My birthday topic (thanks, all!) reminded me that we have some newer members who don't know all of our quirks, and that those of us who have been around for a while do get confused from time to time. (Wait - unless there's food involved. With food we are very focused.) (Where is Polarbear when we need mud pie??!!)

Anyway, I thought I'd start the disambiguation - please state relevant info about the animals who share your life.

Sam - border collie mix, 14, herds squirrels
also gerbils, fish and frogs, none of whom care about the vicious, blood-thirsty, murderous squirrels in the backyard

Okay, I totally misread that to mean that you have 14 herds of squirrels!

I have two cats, Chloe and Maddy. Chloe is a fluffy, multicolored tortoiseshell cat, approximately 6 years old. Maddy is 99.9% black, yellow eyes, and will have her 3rd birthday later this month.

I consider them my short, hairy daughters! :cloudnine:

I am outnumbered, surrounded and confined by males..

The four foots of the canine variety... Jack, Nero and Champ

The four foot of the purring kind...Nicholas, the Orange Prince (as Mare named him)

The two foot is referred to as "Doctor Partner".

all have a tendancy to have 'muddypaws' in rainy season.

Currently we have one dog, Hunter--mixed lab/Chesapeake Bay retriever, age 1.

He's a pip!

We also have 2 male bunnies we acquired when our daughter was in the Rabbit Club through 4-H (down from 4 bunnies--two females we lost over the past 2 years). She had to quit b/c over the years she developed allergies to the rabbits which was really hard for her to deal with as each year the 4-H had a rabbit show where the members had to demonstrate rabbit showmanship (yes, there is a way to show rabbits).

A "Pets Corner" here would be nice, too. I think I still have the photos I posted on the other forum still at photobucket (if only I can remember the password).

Three cats.

"Cooties" is a 16 year old blue cream tabby DSH. He's kinda old and crabby.

We got the babies last June after my 18 year old black DSH passed.

The male is sorta my son's. He is a brown classic tabby DSH, much like my avatar. The 'classic' part means he's swirly and not stripey. He started out, for maybe a couple of days, being named Spidey, he quickly became Biters and then Swaggers or Wags. He has BIG swagger. He's the mellowest, sweetest cat I have ever had.

The female who is sort of mine, is silky soft black and is a bit of a spaz like the kitty who passed. Sometimes I wonder if his soul is in there. Her name is Mina after Dracula's girlfriend, but I often call her Mimi.

They are so cute and love each other dearly. I have never gotten any of my cats at the same time till this, and they all either hated each other or tolerated each other.

OUCH!! :scared:
Was laying on the couch with Nicholas curled up on me when suddenly he jumped up and raced off of me. Unfortunately he dug my ear with a claw and now I'm holding a tissue to it. Man if getting clawed by a cat hurts this much, how to people deal with it getting more than just pierced ear lobes?

Pusscats..gotta love them no matter what they might do accidently.

Ouchies!

I have been a launching pad many a time. And while I have scars and constant scabs from kitties, I have NEVER gotten my ears pierced. :poke:

Glad to hear Big Orange Nick is still full of spunk. :)

It's that time....

We're waiting for Jonah and Al to deliver Mason the yellow Lab and Sampson the Rhodesian Ridgeback to us this evening. They are being guests here for 6 weeks.
I've been rehearsing the Speech already..."You do NOT chase the Nicholas".

Run, Nicholas, run... :poke:

I'll ask Sampson to kindly finish off the lamp he broke two years ago . I told Al I'd like to bring in the Vulcan table lantern in to repair that they dragged onto the tile floor last year since there's no work on the bench for me after Tuesday.

I'm in the same club as Bonnie.

All stuffed: one lone rabbit, one mommie rabbit with two babies, a cat, a mouse, two dogs, two bears, a pig, and my current favourite, an octopus that I got at an aquarium near Wilmington, NC.

I also have a ton (that's about 16) of dragon figures that were sold as a collection from one of those mail order collectors' places (we keep sending them until you tell us to stop). My brother started that one -- said there were only 12 figures in the set, 4 to be sent every 3 months. Wrong! I don't know how many figures were ultimately in the set, but I had to stop it at 16 -- ran out of places to put them. They were sold as Christmas ornaments. I love them, but there is a limit!

I also have 3 carved dragons -- one Chinese and two western.

I'd have a dog. But I live in a high-rise apartment building and I'd have to actually take the dog out for a walk at least 4 times a day. If I could just tie a rope around it and lower it to the ground from the balcony, maybe.... But all that exercise (especially the getting up early in the morning and the going out on those lovely blizzardy days and equally lovely frigid days we get in the winter) kind of puts me off.

I'd have a cat, but they shed and I'm not a "domestic goddess". When the dust bunnies turn into dust buffalo and start chasing me down the hall, I act. Not before!
