dear folks -

in case anyone has noticed my absence of late ... will try to catch you all up.

thursday morning (of last week) after exercise at the gym, i was felling very ill so my husband took me to the emergency room at the VA hospital in fayetteville, ar -- with arm and neck pain.

then after nearly five days as a patient in the hospital they decided i didn't have a heart attack, exactly.

(think my harold had a worse five days than me. )

anyWHO, so very glad to be back home where i can actually use my computer again. as where i was in the VA hospital cardiac ward i wasn't even allowed a cell phone, let alone a computer! (but we had so many electronic wireless devices connected to ALL the patients in that unit, not just me, no telling what might interfer with the data ladden air.) in a way, seems like i've been away, and off-line forever; instead of just PART of five actual days.

The Good News: didn't have a heart attack. but officially, do have a heart condition now. am having what they call heart spasms (which are controlled by meds). so if i do what i am told to do, [remain with the healthy life style i already have, and take my meds religiously and loose 20 pounds] i will live a very long TIME yet. if i don't, i will most likely have a for real fully blown heart attack someTIME in the future; and the army of docs i have seen in the last five days, will not give me any odds on surviving THAT. so, of course i will be very, very good and do as i have been instructed to do. [amazing how total obedience is a very easy thing, when ones life is on the line.]

we also went to the little rock VA this wednesday just past, and they decided i did'nt have thyroid eye disease after all, but that i was still just suffering from complications due my concussion of about 16 months ago. so there is HOPE yet that my double vision/blurriness/et al. will correct themselves in TIME.

still, wanted everyone here to know what has been happening in my life of late.

any questions? i will be glad to supply the answers, if i know them. otherwise, maybe we can discover the answers together. after all we do have the Internet now, and somewhere "out there" is NEARLY every answer in the universe. the knack is being able to ask the right question. :wink2:

I wish you the best of health always, Pattie Anne. Thank God you were o.k. I will be thinking of you. You'll be o.k. :console: Drink a lot of water, eat a lot of greens and fruits, and exercise. The best option I can think for natural juices(if you prefer to drink more juice than water) with vitamins would be to get a juicer, instead of buying store bought juices. That way you get the full vitamins, and you'll be healthier as a result. Store bought juices contain too much sugar(which could lead to diabetes) and have been sitting on the shelves for a while, and therefore have probably lost most or all the vitamins.

I sometimes wonder if one day I might end up with a heart conditon as I haven't been eating healthy for a long time now. Too many foods with hydrogenated oil and monosodium glutamate. I love food so much. I have to eat more fruits and vegetables(especially greens) and exercise more. Thankfully I walk a lot and I also get exercise thru work. I used to be so skinny at only 130 pounds. Now I weigh 200 pounds. I'm glad I have meat on my bones finally, but I still have to watch what I eat and don't want to become overweight. At 200lbs., I'm pushing it. I hope and pray I don't end up with heart disease, stroke, or get a heart attack.

In the words of the Sixth Doctor: "Carrot juice, carrot juice, carrot juice." :doc6:
"Look at the sky-it's not dark, and black, and without character. The black is in fact deep blue. And over there, lighter blue. And blowing through the blueness and the blackness, the wind swirling through the air-and then, shining, burning, bursting through the stars! Can't you see how they roar their light?Everywhere we look, the complex magic of nature blazes before our eyes."

I had wondered where you were, PA.

My you have been through so much!

Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. I'm glad to hear it appears as if this can be controlled without any invasive surgery and such!

Take care of yourself, sweetie!

We need ya' here.

No stents? You're lucky not to need one of those yet as they come with their own set of problems.

Yes, you are what you eat...so eat well, laugh often and love much.

P.A. you take care of yourself, yah hear?

Now, PA, this will not do. We need you to hang on for at least another eight or nine regenerations - and Mr. PA has to finish his tell-all novel about the Florida gatherings.

In all seriousness, I am glad that the news is not as bad as it could have been. So glad to know that you are in good hands and that folks are keeping an eye on you. It cannot be easy to have health problems of your own when you are worried about others.

As others have said, please keep us posted, and if there is *anything* we can do from the virtual world, we will.

That sounds like a really scary time you 've had!

Keep yourself well. We do have to get to Kent sometime. but not with you feeling so bad. So get busy and take care of yourself. And save those pennies.

dear marcello, donnarose, Gold Usher, wombat and madgoth -

ta, folks. was a really scary TIME for about five days. odd just how quickly your life can change. in a heart beat actually.

did i tell you that the reasons it took so many docs so long to figure out exactly what was exactly wrong with me is:

ONE

it is an extrememely RARE heart condition, as the heart is beating in a NORMAL sinus rhythm, while at the same TIME, compressing itself like a clenched fist.

i know, still can't understand how TWO things can be happening simutaneously and not affect each other.

and TWO

my heart doctor said he has been a heart specialist since he got out of medical school (and i would guestimate that he is about 65) and the only TIME he has ever seen this condition in anyone, is in cocaine addics. he said THAT is how they die. their hearts go into a seizure, they have a heart attack, and shuffle off their mortal coil.

but for some reason, i am (or rather my heart) is doing all this, all by itself. i mean, i knew i was odd ... but this is just plumb ridiculous!

:imfao:

then my eye specialists in little rock went and told me, just last wednesday, if i didn't stop nipping into the rum on sunday mornings and falling on church property sunday nights, getting concussed, people would start to talk!

:smash:

still, they did tell me all my latests scans were all normal and i have nothing wrong with my eyes, except that i am still having complications (blurred vision and double vision) due to the concussion of 16 months ago. they also said my symptoms may eventually go away completely in TIME, or they may be with me for the duration. (MY duration.)

so ... things could be very much worse, on the home front, therefore i am very grateful for all the good things in my life ... which of course includes all of you.

:sssmob: :minion: :minion: :minion: :sssmob:

PS:

the ONLY TIME in my entire life i ever did anything naughty like they talk about in the above is when i was 16 years old and i copped a cigarette from my mom's purse, and took it out on our backyard patio to have myself a smoke. i thought i was going to die right then and there, but promised The Good Lord if He would get me out of this, i would never ... never ... never ever smoke again. to date i have kept my word.

my liquor experiences are much the same. drank part of two glasses of wine with my husband for an anniversary on two different holiday celebrations. got sick as a dog both TIMEs. and sicker the second TIME than even the first. NEVER did THAT again either!

as for drugs, ONLY when they were prescribed, NEVER illegally, even one TIME.

now, if i can just convince my VA caregivers ... BIG SIGH ... but all of them are so busy falling all over themselves with their teasing ... i think there is little or any HOPE of them ever listening to me. :wall: i'm innocent! at least, of all the above crimes. :wink2:

good week all!

Well PA I guess you are truly unique. But happily, if being good and taking your meds will keep you around a long time, then I am relieved, since that should be easy for you.

Glad you two are past this scare.

Ahhhh...that situation with your mistimed heart muscle. That's why they didn't dare give you a stent probably. Usually if there's an artery problem that's the first thing they do. There might be some concern on how to exactly get the beat right in order to place a stent. Docs told my Mom when she didn't feel good and insisted on going to emergency, she was days away from 'the big one'. Then they got her on the table to line her artery. Now there are days Dad can't sit on her to slow her down....she's behaving like she's 38 again doing stuff around the house.

Mr P.A. better watch out if the doctors do decide to give you a "little assist".

You hang in there P.A., you're the only one who knows the way around your Tom Baker website.
