dear donnarose - then i sincerely HOPE being a southern baptist i have not stepped on your toes with what we teach and believe, as we are ALL christians though Christ our Lord. last i knew Jesus doesn't look at the name on the church door, but rather at the heart. that is what born again believers mean when we say we have a PERSONAL relationship with God. and i would NEVER, EVER want anyone to take anything i say as TRUE without going to the source (the Holy Bible) and checking out for themselves, that what i profess is FACT. as i know EVERONE hear can READ. ![]() BTW i have a son WHO is catholic, and it was through his wife's church that he was converted and became a christian, so i owe the pope's people much as without Christ's blood covering my sons's sins, he would be on that same wide road to hell as one else. and never mind what kind of "good" christian i would be if i didn't offer a parachute to my friends and family knowing our plane was about to crash; but what kind of friend would let someone they love go to hell ... when they knew it WAS a real and actual place - without at least some kind of warning to them? i know in this day of plurality (ALL WAYS TO GOD ARE EQUAL) i am politically incorrect and totally out of step with MOST of the world when i echo what was said - over 2,000 years ago: "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." JOHN 14:6 as He didn't say He was A way, A Truth and A Life; He said that any other way was stealing from God. And it may surprise you to hear me say that He wasn't even a "good" man nor just "a prophet" as the world would have you believe, as from His own lips He said He was GOD! but when on earth have you ever known me to be politically correct about anything pattie anne

Aw, sweetie, you didn't step on my toes at all. I just know there's a lot of misconceptions out there about Christianity in general (Catholicism, more specifically), so that's why I offered to be answer any questions offlist, that's all. Thank you for being so gracious. Have a wonderful day! |

dear donnarose - i think maybe you are the one being gracious. (let's see WHO can out nice WHOM!) southern baptists have that same problem too (but on a lesser scale - but only because there are less of us - probably). and it never ceases to amaze me what non-belevers think i believe. i think the two most over-heard mis-conceptions about chrisitians in general are: 1) you think you are better than me because you never murdered anyone! or never did dope! or never tortured a cat to death just for fun! well, yes, actually i am; BUT i am ALSO a sinner, just like you ... totally deserving DEATH and HELL even if never did anything worse than telling A lie, even just ONCE in my life, or taking ONE piece of candy out of a bin in the store without putting a dime in the honesty cup. 2) you hate us because you hate sinners. no we HATE the SIN ... but we love the sinner. as even when we were yet still sinners ourselves Christ died for us. great day to you too! pattie anne

It would be safest to describe my family as religiously complicated. We're got a little bit of every belief and non belief you can possibly imagine. I love it that instead of getting into debates or arguments, we get into long discussions about why something is meaningful to us - or not meaningful, as the case might be! I cannot believe that the loving God (or god) of the New Testament would let anyone who lived as positive a life as they could suffer through the torments of hell. To carry your point, PA, if someone has never heard of Jesus or the Bible or religion of any sort, God will not send them to torment. John 3:16 makes it clear that this is not what Jesus came to Earth to do. The creatures on Ribos will not suffer because they have not had contact with Earth. J.K. Rowling makes an interesting argument about ghosts. She posits that they are people who were afraid to switch into another life - they cling to half-life on Earth because they fear what might come next. Disclaimer: I am a church-going, choir singing, Sunday School teacher. |

dear wombat - wow! what a coincidence. so am i. i am also: a sinner deserving of hell. (trust me on this one.) unable to do anything to save myself -- EX: church-going, choir singing, Sunday School teacher -- "Not of works, lest any man should boast." Ephesians 2:9 -- everything was from God's side. ['Ceptin' for the FREEWILL part ... and my acceptance of the FREE gift.] but and still ... totally and completely and eternally forgiven and SAVED by the blood of the Lamb. (it's a miracle!) thank you Jesus. pattie annePS: Re ghosts ... don't believe in them. dead is dead. you are either in heaven - alive or hell - alive (your soul part, anyWHO). demons are the culprits, pretending to be the "spirits" of the dearly departed. and as always, their agenda is ... up to no good: mis-directing - mis-leading - out and out LYING to get people looking the wrong way. and something i find almost laughable is, hardly anyone today believe in demons, (though the demons certainly believe in the Son of Man) yet we (in general) will believe in almost any other thing(s) to explain the realities we live in, and around.

Let's just hope if there is something out there besides us.... we reach an agreement about spiritual belief because they might have ideas of their own. I personally prefer not to be considered a heretic and wish to pass by any wood piles in safety |

I only add that I am an active church goer etc. to make it clear that I am a person of belief. Some folks read my views and think that I must be anti-religion. I am also a person of a lot of questions, but I think having questions is important. The Bible may have all of the answers, but I am a human, so may not always understand them the first, second, third, hundredth time I hear them... I do believe in ghosts. |

It's safe to say I'll never be a Christian(more of a hedonist than anything else), and I'm not going to Hell or the lake of fire because I believe they don't exist. THANK YOU anyway, Pattie Anne, for trying to save me, but I don't need saving from anything. Plus, if there is a Hell and Lake of Fire, I'm not scared anymore. It took years to take away the fear, and I'm glad that the fear is finally gone. Sometimes, like I said before, I feel uncertain as to what to believe in. Although, most days NOW I'm an atheist and hedonist, so I guess I'm gambling with my soul. When we all die, we will find out who was right and who was wrong. I don't want to be a slave to any God(or the one and only God). Plus my Bi-Polar disorder and Obsessive Compulsive disorder, and anxiety are caused by chemical imbalances, not demons. I believe in science now. Medication is the answer for me, not Jesus. Please, pattie anne, don't be offended by my above paragraph. I'm just stating my true feelings. You're a great friend, and I appreciate you trying to help. THANKS again, P.A. Love, Marcello :) |

dear march child - no offense taken. i did what my faith and Lord requires. outline the Bible and salvation the way i read it, passing that information onto those that i care about most. your free will kicks in after that. and any decision you make is yours and yours alone. my conscience is clear and blameless, i tried. my God is a gentleman, and i try to be a lady. everything i have done and said was done in love, and what i perceive to be the truth. in a way, a part of me HOPES that i am wrong, especially when you consider the sheer numbers of people on the earth that are just a heart beat away from hell at this very moment. but the literal intrepretation of the Holy Scriptures is the only way i see that it can possibly mean anything or makes any sense as WHY things happen as they do. take out the miracles, say anything you do not agree with is just a fable or an allegory, and it quickly becomes a book of nothingness. which sadly today, in many people's hearts and eyes that is exactly what it is. and i know that fact pleases The Old Dragon Lucifer and his minons to know end, but i have no desire to throw in the towel, not just yet, anyWHO, with my personal battle with The Prince of Darkness, as you folks are just too precious to me. my prayers of intercession will continue, and you 'peples' know where i can be reached ... 24-7. pattie anne

God bless you, PA! As you said, God respects our free will. He wants to be loved for Himself (isn't that what we all say we want, anyway--to be loved for who we are?). It is in His nature to love--He cannot do anything else. But He waits for our response and will not go against our choice. |

Speaking of love of and from God... Doctor Partner took Mason when he came to pick me up. I had to run into a store before going home and he said Mason was upset I had left him and was staring, paceing at the door for me to come out. And he's not even my dog.... But is DOG like GOD? Full of unconditional love no matter who you are? |
