Dear everyone: As you might or might not know, I recently aquired the 10th Doctor cinnamon brown overcoat by the company Abbyshot, via a comic book shop in Toronto called 'The Silver Snail'. I'm wanting to complete the costume and don't know where to get the pin-striped suit(brown or blue) to go with the coat. I've seen them being sold on eBay, but they are way too expensive. Any ideas where I might find the suit(even if it's slightly different from the real thing). I know where to get the plimsolls(or in North America- the Converse All-Stars) at my local footlocker at the mall here in St. Catharines. Any ideas, people, where I can get a brown or blue pin striped suit cheap? The shirt and tie shouldn't be too hard to find. Hopefully I can have the complete costume by Halloween. Heck, knowing me, I'll probably wear it most of fall and winter.

And blowing through the blueness and the blackness, the wind swirling through the air-and then, shining, burning, bursting through the stars! Can't you see how they roar their light?Everywhere we look, the complex magic of nature blazes before our eyes." Vincent Van Gogh actor Tony Curran 'Vincent and the Doctor' (2010) | |

You must have nearly-new shops in St. Kit's, Marcello? You never know what you'll find there. |

Go to the second-hand clothing stores. And join your local Freecycle group. Post a "wanted" message and maybe somebody will have what you need. And the advantage of Freecycle is that it's absolutely FREE. |

Thanks for the idea, JayBee, but I don't think we have any nearly new shops, unless of course you mean Value Village or the Salvation Army which we do have. I should look thru those shops. Thanks again for sparking that idea in my head, JayBee.

Thank you, Hypatia! That sounds like a plan! I'm going to go to my local Value Village(second hand clothing store) and try it. I just realised I could even look it up(the suit) on kijiji. Thanks again, Hypatia.

I just saw an ad at the bottom of this page called custom men's suits!!! Tell me that isn't an omen! I'm going to scour 'Value Village'. If I don't find anything, I will try Hypatia's idea. Also, I will scour 'Out of the Past' and 'The Salvation Army'. The search is on!

I checked out all the stores I mentioned for something similar to Tennant's pin-striped suit, but haven't had any luck. I'm going to try Hypatia's idea now, but also plan on saving up my money for a big spend in the month of October. I plan on buying an expensive suit after all. I know just the places to look. I'm sure it won't be too hard to find something similar. As for the Converse All-Stars, that should be easy. Both my local malls have them. I'm either going to get the black and white ones or the red and white ones. I'm not too fond of the cream coloured ones. I'm contemplating adding my own personal touch to the suit, and that is a vest(or as the Brits like to say Waist coat) I will wear the jacket open with the vest showing. I love seeing ties tucked into waist coats. I might. Or I might just go with the suit without the waist coat. I'll decide more than likely when I have the money in October.

I hope you find what you're looking for - and Freecycle is useful for lots of other things, too. I got both my cats from people in that group! BTW, the ads that appear on this forum happen because of keywords in our posts. So sometimes it's kinda spooky... and sometimes it's funny and sometimes it's disturbing. Nothing like complaining about one particular aspect of the 1984 Dune movie and having ads for dog training and breeders show up!

That's why. I knew it was too good to be true to be an omen. Thanks for letting me know, Hypatia.

we tried so hard to get wombats to show up in one of those ads - the last time that we used this forum. Foxy finally managed it, but only once. |
