Dear all: I recently found out about a Doctor Who meetup group here in St. Catharines, Ontario thru kijiji.ca I went to kijiji and typed in Doctor Who under search(as I was searching for memorabilia and I came across an ad called "Followers of Rassilon". I emailed them and a man named Bobby emailed me back. He said that I'm more than welcome to join and membership is free. He said that the group has been around since the 1980's and in it's heyday had over 200 members. He also goes to the Gallifrey convention every year in Los Angeles. He said he's trying to organize a Who meetup at the public library here in St. Catharines. I'm definately going to join. Hopefully we can get the group going as strong as it's heyday. I wish we all here could get together and create our own group where we could meetup in person and go to conventions together and such, but I guess Pattie Anne's forum here is a group meetup in itself. Still, I wish we could all see each other face to face. Here's hoping one day that will come true. Followers of Rassilon isn't too far from my apartment. It's about a 35-40 minute walk. I'm going over there this coming week on a day off from work. I CAN'T WAIT!!! I'll tell you all how it went. You can find Followers of Rassilon on facebook if you want to see their ad. Or just go over to kijiji.ca and check under Ontario. Then click on St. Catharines. They're there.

That is wonderful news! I am so happy for you! I wish we had something similar where we are located. My dd and I belong to a Star Trek group, but it's definitely not the same. The one good thing about belonging to the Star Trek group is that they have "courses" offered through Star Fleet Academy. One of the "colleges" from which one can take courses is a Doctor Who college. So my dd has begun to enroll in her first course to get her "degree" in Doctor Who. |

Thanks, donnarose! I wish I could go to Doctor Who college! That would be a dream come true! Sounds like the Star Trek group is a lot of fun, donna. I love the original Trek, especially their movies(Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home is my favorite Trek movie. It's hilarious!) Though my favorite Trek of all is the Star Trek: The Next Generation t.v. series. I love Picard and Data. Though I always found it funny that Captain Jean-Luc Picard was meant to be French, when he has a British accent. LOL! I love Patrick Stewart in the David Tennant "Hamlet". Superb acting!

I am also fond of Trek. My faves are Star Trek: TNG and Star Trek: Voyager. I really like the ST: The Voyage Home movie and TNG: First Contact and Resurrection movies. I've read a great many Trek novels, too. |

Hi Bonnie! I always found that scene in ST:The Voyage Home where they are all crossing the street, and Kirk walks in front of a car, and the guy in the car goes: "Watch where you're going dumba$$!!!" Then Kirk couldn't think of a cool comeback, so he says: "Well double dumba$$ on you!!!" CLASSIC!!!

Dear Tracy: Hi. Sadly I don't have a facebook account anymore. I cancelled my account two years ago when I had a bad experience with an old friend of mine. I just found Followers of Rassilon Doctor Who group thru Kijiji and it was thru an email from the leader of the group that I found out about the facebook account. The bad experience I had on facebook has made me not want to ever again open up a facebook account. Thankfully we can chat here, Tracy.

If anyone is interested, here is the link for Star Fleet Academy. http://www.academy.sfi.org/ You do have to be a member of Star Fleet, but I don't think you necessarily have to belong to a chapter. There should be some contact information on the left hand side of the page. Here's a list of the courses offered: http://www.academy.sfi.org/doc/coursechecklist.pdf The Doctor Who College is around page 16. |

WOW! There's a lot for Doctor Who! If only they had something like this in Ontario, CANADA. I would definately enroll. I'm glad the Doctor Who college includes both the classic series and new series. Have Fun, Donnarose!

Thanks, Marcello! Can't you do this in Canada? I thought the link was to Star Fleet International. I can't remember the cost, but I think you could just join Star Fleet International and not have to be affiliated with a local chapter. The courses are free through email. Or you could do a hard copy for the cost of postage. So far, my dd has taken 2 courses and passed with 100%. She said that courses are really just quizzes based on the various episodes. After you take 50 classes, you get a special award. If you have any further interest, let me know and I'll send you the email of the person in charge of the courses. Take care! |

Hi Donnarose. No. Sadly the group has been relegated to Facebook only status, as the man in charge of the group told me it was no longer in it's heyday(they used to have meetups with over 200 members). I have decided I'm not going to join Facebook only because I had a bad experience with a girl from high school. I told the man in charge of the group that we can chat via email and he can keep me informed as to what the members are up to that way. This way I can still be a member, even if unofficial. I was hoping for meetups, but sadly this was not meant to be. I kind of envisioned the group being like LIn'DA from the DW episode 'Love & Monsters'. Hopefully the group can get back to meetup status. You would think that because of the popularity of the new show it would re-ignite interest in DW and get more people to join. If anyone wants to join the facebook group just type in: The Followers of Rassilon in the search area on Facebook.

Good news! The Followers of Rassilon might have a small gathering next month. I got an email from Bobby(the man in charge). He's so nice. He's met Jon Pertwee, Colin Baker, Frazer Hines, Georgia Moffett, Nicola Bryant several times as well as many more! I CAN'T WAIT! Hopefully my dreams of many more meetups will come true!
