Character Mini-Biography Though he was one of the primordial deities of the world, later identified as the Prin’irth, Seth identified most with his Ancient Egyptian aspect Set, not unlike his son Kerberos, or Anubis.... Seth was the father of the first generation of Titans, alongside his mother (and then lover) Gaea. He always hated the children she bore him however.... He has been destroyed twice during his existence, his resurgence to power after his destruction by his Titan son Cronus at the wish of Gaea for imprisoning the other Titans in the realm of Tartarus, made him arrogant in the belief that no one could ever permanently defeat him. The second time, was after a failed attempt to eliminate his grandson Ra (Zeus), or as mythology would also call him Osiris. Set killed Ra out of jealousy for Isis, whom he lusted after, shortly after their child Persephone was born. Horus (Apollo) sought vengeance for his father’s death however, and slew Seth in battle. With Seth’s seemingly final destruction, Ra was given enough power to return anew. It was over the years after his death, during the Third Intermediate Period of the New Kingdom in Ancient Egypt, in which Seth became particularly demonized due to associations with foreign Assyrian and Persian invaders, as Set was also the god of foreigners. His defeat at the hands of Horus was then widely celebrated, and his followers condemned. One such loyal follower, was a priest named Salakhutekh, a man later cursed to become an undead mummy, who would make it his goal to one day see the rebirth of his divine master.... |
