Welcome to Wolfratshausen!

We are predominately a role-playing site offering a haven for creativity with multiple topics of interest. Our goal is to create a community where different skill levels can gain new experiences and become better writers. However, due to some of the mature content on this site, we would prefer it if members who wish to join are over the age of 16. If you wish to join us please do so here. Why not start by saying hi in our welcome section. Have no previous writing or role-playing experience? Not a problem, our team of skilled writers are more than happy to teach you everything you need to know about all things writing related. Be sure to check out our roleplay rules before you begin posting. If you have any further questions then contact any of our helpful staff who would love to answer any questions you may have.

Thank you and enjoy our forums!

THE GUIDE TO ROLEPLAYING

Before You Get Started:

Whether you are new or old to Roleplaying, you MUST read these before you continue, to ensure that everyone understands. So, it goes without saying.
There Are No Exceptions
Failure to listen to these rules may result in having your RP character killed off, however leniency is up to the RP creator's discretion. Continuous rule breaking will result in warns, suspension and eventual ban if it persists without any attempt at improvement. The Admins wouldn't take any pleasure in doing this, and would only do so as a last resort. All you have to do is read these, obey the rules and everything will go smoothly. If you have any questions or don't understand something, post on here or send any of the admins a PM, we don't bite :$

TO NEW MEMBERS:

Welcome to the Roleplaying section on Wolfratshausen. We hope that you will enjoy the RP's on here and become a valuable contribution to this section. We welcome all new additions to our small community.
If there is something you don't understand, then send a message to one of the three Admins on here.

DARKO (AKA PEACEMAKER)

GRETA (AKA WITCHING)

WISSE (AKA PROFFY)

Any help towards us improving this section is greatly appreciated. Feedback is important. Let us know.

GETTING STARTED WITH ROLEPLAYING:

Don't know where to begin with Roleplaying, here's some handy suggestions to help you.

  • You want to start an RP, but are struggling for ideas. Try RP shopping and browse for something that appeals to your interest. Nothing there? Make your own! Use your imagination, talk to others, start a discussion. There's usually a few people around who will have some thoughts and will help you out.

  • Go into an RP with a group of friends. Of course you'll make friends by RP'ing later on, but it helps makes things easier. If you don't know anyone on here, then get talking. Why not join some RP's and some of the discussions that take place, we'll make sure you feel welcome and informed. You'll be making friends in no time.

  • Try first and third person styles of role-playing with your character.

  • Don't be afraid to ask questions. Many people will be able to bring you up to speed, encase you've missed something, or are just plain confused.

  • Try to stay away from duplicates. Instead why not help the original maker out, and introduce something that will bring life back in?

  • Use parentheses "( )" to talk out of character.

  • Keep characters balanced. It wouldn't be much fun if you could have all the powers that everyone else has and then some.

  • People will come to you, one way or another. In some role-plays where you attempt to be a loner, it will work for a few pages, but sooner or later, people will come, so just be prepared for that.

EXAMPLE OF A RP POST

(Guys I have to go. Cya tommorow!)

I took a good look at my surroundings before opening to speak. Remaining hidden was the best course of action, as I didn't want to end up in bigger trouble than I was before.

The Roleplay Rules

No Anthro
We do not accept anthro RP's on this forum. Posting any such RP's in the sections will result in them being removed. If you're unsure whether your RP idea breaks this rule or not, send the admins a message with a description of your RP and we'll discuss it with you.

No god-modding.
God-modding is the action where one player completely overtakes another character, making them extremely weak, controlling their actions, and generally abusing the other player. An example would be: I threw Tim under a bus, and then made sure to use my orbital pony laser. Lifting his bleeding carcass, I brought him back to life to kill him over again.

No Mary Sues/Marty Stus
Ah, yes... who can forget the dreaded "perfect" characters?
These are characters that either:
A) Have nothing bad happen to them;
B) Have no weaknesses/flaws of any sort, or;
C) Indestructible TROLOLOLOLOL abilities, basically characters that are impervious to anything and everything.
D) All of the above.

It would be wise to encourage Players to make "balanced" characters, as opposed to overly-powerful ones. The fear of some kind of vulnerability will ensure the people just don't waltz through the RP's being able to do whatever they want without consequence, this generally creates a bad feeling amongst fellow RP'ers and quickly renders the RP boring and uneventful.

Let's Make a Good Character
While a character profile set-up is down to the individual RP owner, we stress that you write as much about your character as possible. It helps everyone to have a character that is easy to understand, and that is unique and interesting. See at the bottom of this post for a basic character profile set-up that you can use for your RP.

Additional Rules Within RolePlays
Some RP owners like to have additional rules within their RolePlays, such as an extended limit on cussing. It may be something to include in the top RP regulations that these rules within RolePlays are to be followed, as well. Remember that when you are in someone's RP, to abide by what rules they have implemented. I stress to all RP owners, if a player is persistently breaking the rules on your RP, and we are not aware of this, please inform us so we can take appropriate action.

YAY, MORE Sentence requirements
All posts should AT LEAST be Eight sentences long, with grammar and description. However, several paragraphs for each post is recommended, though of course it depends on the individual RP and the situation.

Leniency On Content
You may find that rules towards sex, language and violence are a little more relaxed here. This doesn't mean we want to see 18+ content. If things get too wild we will put a stop to it. This is just a warning towards some of the younger members that things may be slightly more mature there.

We may permit something slightly more mature if it's justified in context (such as historical RP taking place during a war, is going to have a lot of violence)

AFK, bbl...
Sometimes while role playing, we get caught up in it all and forget that we have an actual reality that needs tending to. That being the case, it is not terribly uncommon for people to temporarily leave RPs for a variety of reasons (Technical problems, funerals, vacations, not paying the bills, impeachments, etc...) and that's perfectly fine. However, if you have the ability, it is imperative that you inform people involved in a role play with you that you will be going for however long you think you'll be gone. If you do not provide some kind of a leave of absence, then after two weeks of not posting in an RP, a message will be made notifying you that at a determined date if you have yet to post, and depending on the RP characters importance and the circumstances regarding the current scene of the RP, your character will either be given control to one of the admins or an approved member of the RP or killed off so that they do not clog up the RP. If you do return, it is perfectly acceptable to resume the RP with control of your character. If you return and your character is dead, you may contact and discuss with the other members of the RP to have an appeal to either bring them back or create a new character in their place.

General Site Rules

A Little Respect Goes A Long Way
This isn't really a rule, just human nature. Just generally be respectful towards members here, there are many different age groups on here, and people with different interests. Help out someone new, be friendly. We may not all agree on some things, but we must allow for variety here.

One way to ensure a certain standard and respect in an RP is to have sign-ups via PM. (That's Private Message, not PeaceMaker ;) ) We will not enforce this, but if someone creates an RP and would like to limit who joins, it's up to them.

Be Part of The Solution, Not The Problem
Sometimes people post irrelevant comments into RPs and discussions even when they are not participating in the conversation. These normally consist of something along the lines of 'I would help out/join this RP - but nothing interests me/it's too boring.' I once again reiterate. This kind of attitude is NOT helpful. If you have ideas, then TELL US!

Out of Character Chat
This is usually a nuance picked up through observation rather than people needing it to be told straight to their faces, but it may be a smart decision to include a rule, if only as a reminder, that OOC Chat needs to be at the very top and/or very bottom of a post, and needs to be clearly separated from the In-Character post. Out of character chat is usually used in the form of ( ) when addressing someone at either the top or bottom of a post. If you are chatting a lot OOC, such as to explain the plot to a member who's just entered an RP, or to discuss what's happening next, then it is advised you move the discussion to a Private Message. This helps keep the RP flowing and uncluttered from irrelevant conversation.

All Main Forum Rules Still Apply
This is more of a reminder than an actual rule, and generally a given. But this is a firm reminder at the bottom of the rules. Keep in mind that all main forum rules still apply in this area.

The Standard RP Profile Set-Up

Don't mind me folks, I'm just a de facto admin, I don't actually do anything.

Also, I believe we have a strict "No Anthro/Furry" character rule, unless certain conditions permit it and/or make it a necessity for the story.

Added that into the rules. Hopefully there won't be any confusion over it.

Totally not undercover.
Is the Roleplay Symposium for creating new roleplays, or is it for discussing future ones, like ZTV's Roleplaying hangout?
Welcome to the Internet, I'll be your guide!

Ah yes, I forgot about that. I've made a Roleplay Discussion section at the top of the Symposium for that purpose. At least, I think I have. It's difficult to tell as my internet is playing up.

(Edit, doesn't seem to be working right now, I'll have to look into why it's not showing up)
