Decree of the Hand II

I, Tywin of the House of Lannister, Lord of Casterly Rock, Shield of Lannisport and Warden of the West;

Do with my authority as Hand of the King authorize the holder of this document to apprehend Prince Oberyn Martell of Dorne and bring him to be detained in the Dungeons of the Red Keep until he can be brought to trial before the King's Court. The Prince of Dorne is charged on behalf of his brother Doran, with partaking in the plot to murder His Grace, King Robert of the House Baratheon. A trial will be held as soon as possible once the Prince is in custody, to ensure this heinous act of regicide is resolved, both in the eyes of the Realm and its laws.

Signed and Proclaimed on this day, during the 2nd Moon, 289 Years after Aegon's Conquest

Tywin Lannister
Hand of the King

With this warrant in hand, a platoon of City Watch Goldcloaks trooped through the streets towards the lodgings where Oberyn was staying whilst in the capital for Robert's funeral.

Oberyn was on his way home from a long night. As he turned the corner onto the road his lodgings were on he saw the Gold Cloaks outside his door. He quickly fled the scene. They were at the stables as well. He tried to get close enough to hear what they wanted with him but it was too dangerous. He left the area and went to the waterfront. It seemed like an unlikely place for them to be looking for him. He could arrange for a way out of King's Landing there and he could see about buying information.

With the Viper's slipperiness being well known throughout the Seven Kingdoms, a command had gone out alongside the Goldcloak platoon to the Commanders of the Seven Gates of King's Landing. Each gate was to be put on high alert, and each commander prepared to apprehend the potentially dangerous Dornish Prince. Despite that, the order was clear, Oberyn was to be captured unharmed, or there would be hell to pay with the King's Hand.

Now the throngs of people who streamed in and out of the city through the six gates, as well as the throng going in and out of the docks through the Mud Gate, were all being held up by thick screens of Goldcloaks, who meticulously checked the many people attempting to snake through. At the Mud Gate, Commander Jacelyn "Ironhand" Bywater carefully surveyed the crowd of angry sailors and goods traders who were desperately trying to make their wait shorter by shouting and grumbling at the Gold Cloaks with every passing minute. As no report had come in from the Keep, it seemed that Oberyn had not been home when the platoon came for him. Jacelyn knew he would only have limited time, if any, to properly explain the situation to the Dornish Prince if he attempted to leave the city by way of the docks, for it was not nearly as sinister as it seemed. He supposed he would have to try anyway.

Oberyn didn't see the Gold Cloaks around the waterfront and got too comfortable. While talking to the captain of the Balance he was struck on the back of the head. The next time He opened his eyes he was in a dark cell by himself

After what could have been hours, or perhaps just minutes in the darkness, the door to the cell peeled open with a loud screech, as a short and stout jailor pulled opened the door with a grunt. For a few seconds, blinding light from a torch on the wall outside flowed into the cell, until a trio of shadows stepped into the doorway. As two of the shadows stood rigidly at attention in the hall the middle figure stepped forward, close enough to reveal the refined features of Tywin Lannister.

"My apologies for the blow to your head, Prince Oberyn" he began in a nonchalant tone. "Commander Jacelyn was of the belief that the best way to deliver you unharmed would be if you were unable to fight back at the time. He may have had a point." he remarked, casting a glance down at the manacles around Oberyn's wrists, which were connected by chain to the far wall of the cell.

"Despite what this may seem like, the intention here is not to punish you. I simply needed you here to make sure your brother comes North from Dorne, seeing as how he is the one who stands accused, not you. The Crown has no quarrel at all with you, and you will not be treated as if it did. I assure you this arrangement" he said, gesturing to the cell around them "is only temporary. A room has been prepared for you in the Maidenvault of the Red Keep. All your whims will be attended to, as I am sure you are a man of… particular tastes. You will unfortunately have to remain under guard, and stay there until your brother arrives, but I assure you, no harm or injustice will be taken upon you."

Oberyn rubbed the back of his head and squinted in the dim light.
"Maybe you can explain to me just how my brother could be responsible for regicide while he is in Sunspear while King Barathheon was killed here in Kings Landing."

Tywin shook his head. "It would be hard to prove that your brother, plagued by gout as he is, could have snuck into the Keep and delivered the poison himself. But we have proof enough to believe it was delivered at his direct and explicit command." he remarked. Behind him, the jailor shuffled through his keys looking for the right one to match Oberyn's manacles.

Oberyn sat in his cell wondering if they would keep him locked up forever if Doran didn't come and when he should start planning his escape. Without sunlight, it was hard to tell just how long he had been there already.

As Oberyn sat in his new, far more comfortable loggings at the Maidenvault, one of the turnkeys from the dungeons unlocked the door and walked in.

"Morning, yer 'ighness." he drawled. "Tywin Lannister sends a token of understanding" the man said with a crooked grin, before waving towards the door. A cart with several bottles of Dornish Red was pushed in by a trio of brothel workers from one of Littlefinger's establishments.

Tywin was not one to condone the notion of Oberyn's whoring, especially with multiple people of both genders. Had he found any of his children in such an act, he'd likely have them hanged along with their bedmates. But, for the time being, it was important that Oberyn was kept well-treated. It wouldn't do anybody any good for the crown to be brutalizing innocents for no good reason.

"Prison life isn't so bad."
One of the girls let slip that Doran had arrived in King's Landing and had been detained. When he had finished with the girls, Oberyn called for the guards. "When am I being released? My brother is in custody now, right?"

The Lannister guard at the door shook his head. "You'll have to make do with the horrors of your current lodging for now" he grumbled, gesturing at the rather luxurious apartments of the Maidenvault. "The Hand says to hold you 'til the day your brother is brought to trial. You'd likely want to stick about for that anyway, eh?"

"Likely I will indeed. I will champion Doran so I think I'll just relax here. You'll need to replace the girls though, I think I've worn them out."
