It's not easy being drunk all the time. If it were easy, everyone would do it.

Tyrion was let in to the the Chamber of the Hand by a guard. He stood in front of his father's desk, and gave him a small bow. "Good day father. I mentioned yesterday there was something I would like to talk to you about. Do you perhaps have some time at the moment? I believe it is a matter that may be of some interest to you, and House Lannister in general." He knew the importance his father held for the family. Not for its individuals of course, but for its legacy. And that's what this sword was all about. |

Tyrion's eyes followed the sword, and then focused on his father's face. He didn't like how much he enjoyed receiving his father's praise - well, not praise exactly, but the closest anyone could expect to get out of the man, especially Tyrion. He had always told himself he didn't care what people thought of him, least of all his father. This little adventure had proven otherwise. He felt mildly disgusted at himself for feeling proud at Tywin's - albeit rather veiled - appraisal. He swore inwardly at the interruption, and flashed the Captain a quick look of annoyance. He hoped Tywin would continue once the Captain had left, but that was not the case. Who cares what he had to say anyway, a rebellious voice sneered inside of his head. You do, a little voice whispered back. As his father made no move to dismiss him, he remained in the office, waiting for the messenger in silence. He wondered what this urgent news from the Reach could possibly be. |

Vylarr backed out of the room quickly and soon return, followed by a short-haired young man, more of a boy in fact, in a muddied riding cloak. The rider practically fell into a kneel before Tywin and Tyrion. "My Lord Hand" he began, panting with exhaustion. "I bring word from Highgarden, brought it as fast.. Oof, as fast as I could, m'lord. They say the Lady Margaery has been murdered, somewhere up North. When I stopped at an inn for the night, I heard all kinds of rumors, but nothing conclusive. Some say it was the Boltons, some say it was that Manderly boy she had been taking to bed, others said giants or direwolves or sea raiders. Nothing conclusive on the fate of her son either, I'm afraid." he rattled off in one long exhale. Tywin contemplated silently for a minute, clearly not expecting that sort of message. Finally he waved his hand, signaling for Vylarr and the rider to leave them before turning to Tyrion. "I'll need to send ravens to Kevan and Damion, we need to be prepared if this should escalate. I want you to go to Varys, he'll likely have already heard of this, and far more than we have. Find out anything you can from him." he ordered, before casting a glance at the stack of papers on his desk. A few minutes ago he had been pondering how suspiciously quiet the Realm was being, and now he was validated in that belief. He sighed quietly, then turned back to his son with a simple "Go." and reaching for his quill and ink. |

Margaery Tyrell, dead... He remembered how she had survived an attempt at her life once, while it had cost Robb his. This time, she hadn't been so lucky. Was it the same culprit? Or were the two incidents unrelated? It didn't sound that way, but the boy's report was rather vague. The Boltons seemed the most likely killers in this case, from the little information they had received. With all the Starks falling like flies, they might just have decided the North needed a new leader... "Yes father," Tyrion replied. Varys would have been his next destination anyway. He left his father's room, nodding to the Captain as he passed him, and then heading to the Spider's usual hangout. Willem followed him through the hall. "What did your father think if the sword?" he asked eventually, when it became obvious Tyrion wasn't going to tell him spontaneously. Tyrion smiled slightly to himself before answering. "Oh, I think he liked it," he said. "Yes, I think it is safe to say he felt some kind of positive emotion, insofar he is able of experiencing those." "Well... that's good. Right?" Willem asked. "And what was the messenger about, if I may ask?" "Margaery Tyrell is dead," Tyrion replied. "She was murdered up North. I'm going to Varys now to see what he knows." "Oh," Willem said, sounding a little shocked. "I liked her," he said after a pause. Tyrion chuckled. "You liked her friend, you mean..." He could almost feel Willem go red behind him. "Anyway, off you go. I'm sure you've got better things to do with your time than waiting for me outside of doors." |
