After two years away, Lily finally found herself back in the Citadel. The buildings looked the same and the air felt the same. She was happy to be back in the seat of learning and looking forward to resuming her studies. She went directly to Maester Gormon but was given a very different welcome from what she had anticipated. She was accused of abandoning her position in the Citadel and would have to stand trial by the Seneschal and was told that it was unlikely that readmittance to the Citadel was in her future. She made the mistake of asking Maester Gormon about Archmaester Marwyn. His mood turned dark and guards were called to take her into custody. She appealed for Gormon to hear her story but he told her that she would have to plead her case to the Seneschal. Soon she found herself in a cell........waiting.

After listening to Lily's story, the Seneschal decided that her release would be affected contingent upon the validation of her statements by the corroboration of Gregor Redwyne, when he was located. Until then, her confinement was upgraded to more comfortable a room with a window and books. It would have been easy enough for to escape but she was content to wait until Ser Redwyne was back in port. In the meantime, she could continue her studies.

There was a disturbance in the hall leading to Lily's room. The sounds of a scuffle and a shout urging restraint. Soon, the door to the room opened with a jolt. In walked Mance Flint, followed by two robed Maesters, insisting that he couldn't be in here. He paused for a moment when he saw Lily. He had been so sure she was dead. He had heard the worst from his sources inside the Red Keep. But when he had heard that a girl had appeared before the Seneschal and was to stand trial for abandoning her post, he had known. There was only one person that could possibly be.

He saw the disbelief in her eyes and cracked a cheeky grin. "What's wrong? You look like you've seen a ghost."

Lily stared blankly at the apparition in front of her. Having returned to the Citadel made her relaxed so she was surprised to find herself being delusional. She closed her eyes tightly and opened them again. He was still standing in front of her. To convince herself that this was some kind of dream state she put her hand through his chest. But it didn’t go through his chest. It stopped abruptly when it made contact with his shirt. Lily shook her head as a tear welled up in her eye and rolled down her cheek. “Mance?” she said meekly. “Is it really you?” She threw her arms round his neck and squeezed him tightly.

He embraced her, glad to see that she was, in fact, alive. She had given him quite a scare, and as soon as he had heard rumors of her being alive, he had made his way down to the Citadel. Once he had arrived, it had taken a rather large coin purse and several flashes of his sword to gain access to her room, but here he was.

"Sorry I couldn't get here earlier. I've been a bit tied up." That's all the explanation he could muster. After his seeming death, and the death of most of his crew, he had been told to lie low. He had suffered a great blow, and the organization to which he belonged was still reeling. But nothing anyone had said could keep him from this. He had missed her so badly.

"Are you going to stay here gawking at me, or are you ready for some more adventure?"

Lily planted both hands on his chest and shoved him backwards with little effect. "Don't do that to me again. I looked everywhere for you. I searched the coast for months on end for any news. Next time you die...." she broke off, turned to survey the room quickly. "Hold on a minute." The Citadel hadn't returned any of her possessions. The only thing she had was the clothes on her back and a book. She grabbed it. "Let's go!" She hurried past Mance grabbing his hand on the way by and towing him along behind her. They hustled through the corridors, the reports of their footsteps echoing back to them until they burst out through a door into a bright sunny afternoon. Lily pointed in the direction of Old Port. "This way" and they were off. She wouldn't be welcome back to the citadel now but she was okay with that.

Sadly, Lily found herself back at the Citadel, but in chains instead of a book. She sat in a cold, dark room on a thick plank of wood, contemplating her various crimes against the institution and against humanity in general. Perhaps this was the fate that she deserved. Perhaps Senchel would find leniency in his heart. Whatever her fate, it seemed that it would be devoid of Captain Flint. His mysterious disappearance was not entirely suprising. He wasn't right after his miraculous reincarnation. Lily wished him well, but also knew that she was better off. Even here in shackles.
