RULES
The rules are the same as any roleplaying board out there. Don't be a jerk, don't use someone else's character without permission, keep swearing down (it's okay to use it, but don't be excessive or dumb with it). I expect everyone to be mature about roleplaying here, and patient with newcomers.
Formatting and grammar are essential. We need to be able to read your posts clearly, and have a way of determining who is speaking, when dialogue switches to narration, etc. Members can help you if you seek guidance in roleplay style or in post editing for appearance. We want things to be clean and neat, for the benefit of all other members. While we are casual and flexible, there is an expectation of professional presentation; mandatory in-character, preferred out-of-character.
Please be thorough in your application, and be serious about signing up. We are starting out very loose, with a single monthly show and no limits in posting length or frequency. But we don't want a character slot filled by an absent member...so please announce your retirement, and consider your level of possible dedication to the community prior to submitting your application.
That's the rules. We've seen it before. Let's get to the action!
BACKGROUND
Essentially, Wrestling Legends is about creating epic new feuds across timelines, reviving legendary tales of yesteryear, and generally celebrating the great 'sport' of Professional Wrestling. The roster is broken into divisions based on an individual's established background, title history, etc. Wrestlers starting lower on the totem pole will have the opportunity to rise, that is just a starting point. The same regard is applied to the designation of alignment.
Requests may be made for a wrestler who is not listed, or a change of division/alignment, but these must be discussed with the Wrestling Legends staff prior to posting with that mindframe.
Please note that everything is considered to be real...there is no meta or kayfabe kind of gray area. Even the ridiculous gimmicks and spots...all of it is, in-character, a true and legitimate thing. There is no 'blading', but people can and will bleed. Even words like 'promo' or 'face/heel' should be avoided, because they take away from immersion.
IN GAME RANKING TRANSITIONS
If, for example, you start in the Intercontinental Division, you are welcome to challenge for that title, and your match bookings will be done within those roster members. Once you are the IC champion, you will be expected to defend the title fairly. After losing the title, or after 3 defenses and a storyline 'passing of the torch' (jobbing your title), you will have the option to stay in your division as a top contender, or enter the next division at the bottom of the ladder.
Likewise, if you are a World Heavyweight contender and are at the bottom of title contention, and are consistently losing (especially to newbies from the IC division), chances are you will be dropped down to reflect the lack of 'push' your wrestler seems to be getting. Do not be discouraged by this, as it could have storyline repurcussions, or might align you with roleplayers better suited to your level of competition.
DON'T FORGET
Your wrestler is considered to have all of his wrestling history a part of his true background. However, because of the need for reincarnation in some cases to make this all suspend reality, everyone is considered to be in their prime. Example: Ric Flair is a multi-time World Champion from many different federations. He has been in the business since before WWF went global, and is still involved with TNA. He is an old man now, and a little more eccentric than in his prime. In Wrestling Legends, he is considered to be the younger version of himself...not an old man, just a Legend like everyone else at the best phase of their career.
It is prudent to remember this in roleplays. Calling Ric Flair 'old' or even John Cena 'young' is irrelevant. You can, however, talk about how Flair embarrassed himself in some kind of TNA or later WWE angle. Just don't forget, since he is in his prime, he is 'The Man'...
THE 'FREEBIRD' RULE
During the Freebirds' career in the NWA, they won its tag-team championship. While holding the title, promoters added a sub-gimmick to the team: the (unofficial) "Freebird Rule", which allowed any two of the three members of the team to defend the title on any given night.
This rule has been re-used by a number of other companies when a three (or more) man team captures a tag-team championship. This rule IS IN EFFECT HERE, allowing Stables to get involved in the tag team division more dynamically. The Freebird Rule DOES NOT apply to singles titles.
