Welcome to X-Men: Days of Future Past. We are an alternate-universe X-Men role play with a unique dual-timeline system, where events in the past influence the future and, sometimes, vice-versa.

Here you may create a mutant character, or play a canon character from the comics, animated TV series, or films, and set them in either the Near Future timeline, or the timeline of the 1970s.

Both timelines offer different situations. The Near Future timeline is more political and personal drama oriented around the Institute and school, whereas in the 1970s, the Xavier and his band of mutants are more likely to act like cowboys than diplomats--a world of classic superheroes and villains. Both timelines contain their fair share of action.

The Master of Metal

Name: Erik Lehnsherr (born Max Eisenhardt)
Gender: Male
Age: 90
Hair Color: White
Eye Color: Blue
Species: Mutant
Affiliation: The Brotherhood of Mutants (leader)
Codename: Magneto

Powers: The Master of Magnetism. Magneto can move, bend, shape and weaponize any kind of metal. He also has direct control over magnetic forces, and uses the Earth's magnetic field to levitate himself and others. With his powers over electromagnetism, Magneto can create force fields to selectively block matter and dampen the strength of telepathic attacks on his mind. Though his abilities are nearly limitless when applied to metal or magnetic forces, he is nonetheless defenseless when not surrounded by metal. A plastic, glass, and/or concrete prison is usually enough to hold him, though he has escaped before.

Mutant Power Rating Index: Rank 4

Other Skills: Magneto is a genius with competence in various fields of advanced science, especially in genetic manipulation, particle physics, engineering, and other fields of technology. In recent years, he has become a renowned Holocaust historian greatly respected by his peers, despite the fact that he writes his papers and broadcasts his lectures from within his prison cell at Ryker's Island.

Erik is a master tactician and has had some military training. Though he has had hand-to-hand combat training, his old age forces him to stay out of close-quarters combat.

Personality: Erik is far less prone to anger than he was in his younger years. Nevertheless, he is shrewd, calculating, and harbors a worldview that has been shaped by the atrocities committed against him and his people by the Third Reich. Vowing never to allow what had happened to the Jews in Germany happen to Mutants all over the world, Erik favors extreme measures to protect mutant kind. He believes mutants are the future, and that humans should be below them. Any attempt by humans to "combat the mutant threat" only fuels Erik's belief that they must fight back and destroy humanity if mutants are to survive.

Erik, nevertheless, has a kind and personable side. In fact, he is very charismatic, as the vast number of mutants (young and old) willing to follow him even to their deaths can attest to. Though Magneto cares about the future of mutants, he is nonetheless Machiavellian in his approach, and will allow even his closest allies to be sacrificed for the cause.

Erik appears to let no one into his personal life. In his old age, he is all about the cause.

Physical Description: Erik carries himself with purpose and importance. Even in his old age, his posture is straight and demanding. His piercing blue eyes can be either kindly and sympathetic, or angry and cruel. As a very old man, he has his moments where he may look weak or frail, but one should be wary of allowing their sympathy to let their guard down.

History: Born Max Eisenhardt in a small Jewish neighborhood in Germany in 1930 to a Jewish store owner, Erik is a Holocaust survivor. When the Nazi's came to power, Max's family fled to Poland, but the invading German forces found them.

Caught in the crossfire of a rebellion, Max's mother, father, and sister were killed and dumped, along with hundreds of thousands of thers, into an unmarked mass grave. Erik survived, thanks to an SS man named Johann Schmidt.

Schmidt and Max had a history. Schmidt was sick. Intelligent, but sick. He worked at as a bellhop in an luxury hotel. Max had a friend, a gypsy named Anya Lehnsherr. Schmidt tried to take Anya to the hotel and violate her. Max had somehow gotten the door open, and struck Schmidt on the back of the head with a tea kettle, knocking him out. How he became a German officer Max didn't know, but Johann had recognized Max. Johann was going to punish Max for his insult, but then his gun exploded, sending bullets into his face. Schmidt survived, and what's more he realized that it was Max that had exploded his gun.

Schmidt, his face deformed, found Max in Auschwitz. Max was a young boy. Too young to be of any use at work. They put him to work anyway, but if Max couldn't keep up, then there was a good chance the Nazis would kill him. Schmidt saved him from that fate. Schmidt, now known as Red Skull, commander of Hydra, took Max and began experimenting on him to figure out what Max was. It was only because a young hero-soldier calling himself "Captain America" had stolen away all of Red Skull's attention that Max was able to escape.

At age fifteen, Max was alone. After some searching, he managed to find Anya. They'd lived together for a while in Russia. They had a daughter. Max found work as a construction worker. When he realized his boss was shorting him his daily wages, he lashed out. A steel rail flew through the air and impaled his unscrupulous employer's head. It wasn't long before a riot broke out. They set Max's house on fire, with Anya and their daughter inside. They did not make it out.

Max needed a new identity. It wouldn't be long before police came looking for him. A member of Anya's family, a gypsy forger of papers and creator of false identities, helped Max become Erik Lehnsherr. He then left Europe, leaving behind all the pain, all the blood and injustice, taking with him only his wife's maiden name.

Erik spent a few years in a mental hospital in Jerusalem after that. It was where he met Charles Xavier, a young student studying psychology under the doctors there. It wasn't long before the both of them discovered each other's powers. Excited to find someone to match them not only in intellect but experience, the two made fast friends. But as they discussed their ideology, it became clear that the two could never truly see eye-to-eye. And so, Charles Xavier would build his school for mutants, where he would teach them forgiveness and work for peaceful cooperation with humans, but Erik chose to create the Brotherhood of Mutants, and dedicate himself to the safety and prosperity of his mutant brethren, and mutant supremacy as the only course to achieve it.

Today, Erik serves a life sentence in a plastic prison on Ryker's Island, home to numerous superhuman criminals. Though old and imprisoned, Erik has not forgotten his mission. He still oversees the Brotherhood of Mutants, an organization that continues to operate from within the prison community itself.
