Name: Sivuden Vael Age: Uknown (Looks to be the late 30's of the human race, but maintains a high level of athletic ability.) Race: Twilight Elven ~-~Race Description: Sivuden is an interesting elf, of the Twilight Elves. The twilight elves possess the normal features and characteristics of elves- slightly pointed, elongated ears, the tendency towards long, straight and silky hair regardless of gender. The Twilight Elves are of the usual height- slightly shorter than a human male, coming in about 5'0" to 5'8", no large difference between male and female. They have a pale white skin, as if they do not get much sun- not as pale as a vampire, but definitely a very light shade of tan. Twilight elves are rarely bulky in muscle, even though they may posess great strength (Their athletic potential is the same as humans, though greater only in the sense that the prime of their life spans a far greater period and thus allows far more training and progression), generally becoming very toned and defined in musculature. The Twilight elves tend to have high, slightly prominent cheekbones, slightly narrowed eyes, and a somewhat pointed chin. In terms of the human race, they look most similar to a cross between the Asian and Northern European peoples. Appearance: Sivuden is a relatively normal example of the Twilight Elves, featuring silken black hair just past shoulder length and dappled green eyes (Mainly the colour of Oak Leaves, but with patches of a creamy green similar to the underside of aspen leaves). His pupils are slitted, and his ears are flatter to his skull than most of his race- despite this, it does not affect his hearing in any measurable way. -~Battle Attire: ~-~-~Armour: Silvery chain mail drapes his torso, well crafted with incredibly small links- there is little like it to be found, and it is obviously the work of a master smith. On cursory inspection it seems to be normal mail of great strength, but when looked at closely it can be seen that the ringlets were closed and melded together, thus the mail is far stronger than any ordinary riveted mail. The size of the rings (several millimeters in width) makes it far more resistant to thrusting or stabbing, but massively increases the amount of weight on the holder. For this reason it is forged out of the legendary Mithril, stronger than steel and thrice as light. This makes it extremely valuable and roughly five lbs lighter than normal chainmail. To cover the shine, Sivuden wears a very dark forest green long-sleeved shirt of a silken material over it. The silk, and the lack of rivets or otherwise protruding bits on the mail, allows the shirt to slide easily over the mail without being pinched or caught during movement, particularly of importance during combat. Sivuden also has hard leather greaves studded with ringlets in the same fashion as the pants, strapped on to his forearms, angled to create a 1-cm edge along the blade of his arm, closely fitting. These end an inch and a half from the elbow joint, slightly longer on the inner arm than on the outer. There is also a mail version (light, flexible leather covered with a light version of his chain mail) strapped to his upper arms, beginning one and a quarter inches from his elbow joint and going two-thirds of the way up his arms. Both sets of greaves are worn under his green tunic. As for leggings, Sivuden wears heavy trousers of softened leather, with reinforced seams and ringlets of the same material (albiet blackened) patched over the back of the thigh, around the calf, and in four evenly spaced inch-wide strips down the front of the thigh. This battle attire is fairly light for being mostly covered with mail (Far less rings than the chainmail, of course- rings do not overlap much, making it far more prone to stabbing attacks) and each ring is strongly sewn both to the leggings and to its neighboring rings, making for five to ten points of attachment per ring. They aren't very pretty, but they are very effective at what they do. Over all this, Sivuden wears a dark cloak of mottled green-brown with streaks of grey. The cloth is double-layered, with a durable material on the outside similar to canvas but far more flexible, akin to silk, with a warm, compressed wool layer inside the outer covering of the canvas-like material. The hood is deep and has a rounded back, and the bottom of the cloak falls just to Sivudens ankles. It is resistant to scratches and tears, but is quickly discarded in combat as it hinders movement, is not easily replaceable, and is worn mainly to help mute the sound of the armour, protect Sivuden from the elements, and to provide concealment. ~-~-~Weapons: -~Ranged: Sivuden prefers a large recurve-longbow hybrid, in addition to his magical abilities. The arrows are long, gray-feathered, and made of a black yew that is slightly flexible and very tough. Additionally, Sivuden has two sheathes for a pair of black high-quality blued steel kunai (fairly small and flat, very sharp but not incredibly heavy- these are backup weapons), one sheathed horizontally just below his left shoulder blade and the other angled just off the vertical to the right, on the edge of his right shoulder blade, with the blade of the kunai itself sheathed between his spine and his shoulder blade, the handle just above his shoulder blade. The placement of these means he can cross his arms and cover most of his vitals from just below his rib cage to just under his throat with his arms while already being ready to throw or block, the left blade on a horizontal/downward arc and the right-hand blade on a diagonal arc, with nearly no preparation time. The left blade must be drawn or thrown first if he is using both, as his left hand draws the right blade and the right hand is under the left (meaning the blade would slash the lightly armoured underside of his arm if he drew it with his right arm down). Both are easily and quickly reachable by the same-side hand, however. These kunai are light and fairly flat blades, balanced for throwing- they won't penetrate through any metal armour (except very shoddy metal), but they can penetrate most leather (double-layered or reinforced may defeat them if high enough quality) under general combat circumstances. The blades are fairly sharp and tend to nick somewhat easily, though, so Sivuden rarely uses them unless he absolutely must. He is ambidextrous with these and is a very good shot. He can hit a bullseye at twenty yards, more if he has the distance and time to judge the variables- past ten yards the kunai tend to penetrate less and less, however. -~Close Combat: In close combat Sivuden has three weapons- a bastard sword forged of a mysterious fashion, a blued steel knife just under a foot long, with an inch-thick back and a very heavy-duty blade- not very sharp but meant to take extreme damage and still be in very good condition; and a blued steel dagger six inches long, of a much thinner blade than the other knife, slightly sharper, but still very durable and meant to take a beating. Both these knives are sheathed on his right side, helping balance the weight of the sword on his left. These daggers are strong enough to, if crossed, take an overhand blow of a two-handed sword and only be lightly nicked. They are not as sharp as normal blades, however, and are meant more for defence or stabbing than they are for normal combat. The sword is a curious article. It is the normal length one would expect of a hand-and-a-half blade, except that it is forged almost like a mix between a katana and a falchion. The blade is long and slightly curved, and at the tip the flat back of the blade is curved to create a sharp convex blade. The blade is made of a reddish silvery metal, and a very keen-sighted person would say that in pitch black it is possible to sense- not actually see- a reddish glow emanating from the blade. Its very presence is quietly unsettling and often puts one on edge with its mere presence when unsheathed. The blade has a slight groove in the center, which defines an area of slightly softer, more springy metal making the backbone of the blade, whilst the edges are stiff and battle-ready. The guard is a flat slab of metal half an inch thick and an inch wide, made of silver-coloured steel and engraved on the side and hilt-side of the guard with runes of strength, power, speed, and eternity. The hilt of the sword is an extension of the blade, wrapped tightly with a single black smoothed leather strip, ending just before the pommel. The pommel is perhaps the most curious aspect of this blade. A three-centimeter thick and wide band of black metal perpendicular to the blade, one inch in diameter, creates a hollow teardrop shape, with the point extending from the handle. This is inlaid with some blood-red metal in a very fine vein-like filigree. Inside this circle, there is a simple orb of a midnight black material- shiny like metal, yet a the same time it seems to suck all the light out of the area an inch or two around it. This is obviously a trick of the eye, but it gives a very alien feel and is the most unsettling part of this blade. The sheath for the blade is a simple affair, hanging on his left side from the belt. It is made of black softened leather with similarly coloured hard leather strips two inches wide fastened to the top and bottom edges of the sheath, holding it mostly straight but allowing for flexibility. The tip is covered in a light silvery steel, and the opening is held in shape by similar steel. The sheath for his two daggers are made in exactly the same fashion on his right side, with the larger dagger being sheathed under the smaller, on Sivuden's right side. -~Casual Attire: (weapons/armour/clothing worn outside of the battlefield. ) ~-~-~Armour: Sivuden always wears his upper-body armour, but out of situations in which combat is likely (mainly around towns and taverns, or when heavy leggings are inconvienent) sivuden wears a pair of very fine, smooth, black softened leather pants. ~-~-~Weapons: In casual areas (see above) Sivuden sports his blade, kunai, and his daggers. ~-~Other: TBA Personality/Talents: Sivuden is not a 'people-person'. He is talented socially, but dislikes dealing with people and prefers to roam alone or with his only known companion, Valyse Falenwood. His speech is terse and to the point, and he rarely tells the entire truth- what he does say can usually be trusted as the truth, however- assuming you aren't his target. Despite this, Sivuden is honorable and true to his word, and will rarely back out of a deal or a promise. His battle style is everything goes, and he will not hesitate to play dirty- as a master of manipulation, Sivuden is a highly regarded tactician and highly intelligent. In his dealings with others, Sivuden is often seen as abrupt, but his words are commonly filled with a deeper meaning that often only reveal what was truly meant when thoroughly analyzed. The only person he ever talks at length with -without a good motive, at least- is Valyse. Sivuden is a master of the twilight, but fairly novice in the areas of elemental magic. He is also skilled in detecting the flows of magical energy, and similarly skilled in the control of these flows- meaning that he can influence an elemental spell already set up with a degree of finesse, but isn't very adept at actually initiating such magic. He is also highly skilled in combat; close and ranged combat are second nature to him. It is not often seen, but his companion Valyse is his sparring partner, and tales have been told by unreliable witnesses of the destruction left in their wake when sparring in the desert. It is little seen, but well known that while Sivuden is a true master of defensive combat, Valyse is perhaps one of the most talented adversaries to be found throughout all history- Only once has any comment been made of their skills relative to each other, but it is told that Sivuden shook his head, glanced at Valyse, and said in a wry voice that he will never have a chance of winning. Sivuden is a curious person when it comes to battle. He is extremely avid in combat, and loves battle. However, his views on battle differ from the normal takes- He sees every combat as an opportunity to test himself, improve, and widen his range of knowledge. If life is a school, then for Sivuden combat is one of its main lessons. It is by his constant practice and incessant determination to become better - not the best, but merely to push himself to his utter limits- that has made him as skilled as he is. However, Sivuden rarely engages in combat that is utterly one-sided that favors himself (albeit being nearly suicidal in challenging utterly superior forces like Valyse), and he rarely picks a fight purely out of hatred or a will to shed blood. This being said, Sivuden rarely accepts surrender. He may not kill an enemy that is defeated, especially if it was a solid fight and was particularly invigorating, but he will not let them surrender- they will either fight and win against him, or they will lie on the battlefield, physically unable to continue the fight. Sivudens view of the world is bleak, and as he is incredibly connected to nature he views industry as a hated, if possibly necessary, evil. He doesn't go out of his way to stop it, seeing all races - with some exceptions- as children of nature, and thus entitled to the world as much as he. Sivuden is very disconnected from civilization, taking part in its culture but at the same time hating the effect on the world. His preferences are to wander with Valyse, often not returning from the wilds for months at a time when not needed. He mourns the departure of civilization from nature, and at times seems lost in the rapidly evolving world. He has been around for an extremely long time, as has Valyse- it is unkown why they do not age, but it is known that they are wanderers; they have no set home and are for intents and purposes alone save for themselves in the world, although whether by choice, necessity, or both, is neither known nor questioned. Short History: ~-~Current residence: Roaming. Sivuden commonly visits areas where his presence is of some effect, but not necessarily where it is felt his talents may be needed or appreciated- rather, he and Valyse go whither they will, and the rest of the world can do without. ~-~Goals: Unknown. There are some rumours that Sivuden is akin to the old gods of field and stream, at one time a protector of the world (This is due to his focus on defensive combat, and Valyse's incredible offensive capabilities) that has been cast adrift by a world that no longer needs - or wants- protection, save from itself. He may be no deity, but he has certainly lived far longer than his race is wont (as has Valyse) and tales of similar people extend far into the history. These are usually disregarded, however. Background: ~-~Place of Birth: Unknown. Sivuden claims a liking to the northern climes, though, and this may be a clue. ~-~Past Activities: Sivuden, and his companion Valyse, are known to wander from town to town, picking up whatever tasks, quests, or adventures befall them - or catch the flight of their fancy. They appear whimsical at first, but tend to pick highly dangerous, difficult tasks that do not involve others and require hunting down errant beasts, rogues, monsters, and stopping the occasional rogue mercenary army. Other: ~-~’Other’: Whether Sivuden and Valyse are romantically involved is not known - it is assumed, of course, as the two never part company for more than an extremely short length of time, and any advances are adroitly turned aside to other avenues of conversation. Languages spoken: Of these languages both Sivuden and Valyse speak Common, Elven, and Infernal; Sivuden being the more accomplished of the two. Sivuden can also understand Undercommon, which is a dialect of Elven, with some effort. Edited by Sivuden, Feb 10 2013, 02:01:13 PM.
