Two months until..... Election Day 2008!!!! And I sent in my voters registration today, which means I get to vote for the first time this year!!! Even though I'm not sure if it matters because Washington is a democratic state and always votes for the democtatic candiate. Oh well, I'm still excited to vote, haha. I'm sorry for this random thread, I'm just excited to finally get to vote and I know exactly who I'm going to vote for, he's been my pick for president since I first heard he was running. |

I am SOOOOOOO excited for this election!!!!! i can't even think straight! So happy for you you can vote Shannon! And good for you to be so excited about it, that's awesome!
Younger voters used to be complacent and things have changed for the better. I admit I did not exercise my right to vote when I was 18, shame on me.
Now I can't imagine NOT voting! My husband got to see Obama tonight he went to a speech and was only about 30 yards away. I sooooo wish I could have been there but my son wasn't completely sold on going, so I needed to stay with him. Heard YV on Sirius instead.

My brother is 28 and he still doesn't vote. I can't blame him though, Washington always votes for the democratic canidate, so it sometimes feels like your vote doesn't count. I'm excited for it too. I'm really excited to get a certain somebody out of office. If Obama doesn't win I'll be very upset. Almost as upset when I found out George Bush got reelected. On a side note, I remember watching the Kids Choice awards back in 2000 or something and Will Smith said he was going to run for president in '08, but I guess that never happened, haha. |

I think the whole world is watching this election. My French teacher gives us weekly French headlines and there always seems to be one about the election. And I just found this on the internet: "In just 120 days, 18 hours, 52 minutes, and 45 seconds, George Walker Bush's term as President will end." Personally I think that is far too long. I hate how we have to wait two months after the election to actually get a new president. |

The world definitely is watching! But it sort of sucks because here, people almost pay more attention to the American election than our own which is in less than a month! Oh well. |

I just wanted to get in on this topic as well because I must say it is nice to finally be among likeminded people because I come from a very conservative household and one that has never really been politically involved. Boy do I get sick of being outnumbered 4 to 1 in family arguments and love when they call me a bleeding heart liberal even though I'm a registered independent. But I'm very political and every time an election is near I always look at the candidates very closely but usually find the Democrat stands for what I believe in more then the Republican. But I always give both a chance although much like McCain most of the time the Republican candidate turns me off. It's nice to see the youth like Shannon and Vanessa so interested in politics. I am always trying to get more of my friends to be more politically involved but so many of them don't seem to care or think their vote matters which I find sad. What's sadder is Vanessa doesn't even live in the US and seems to care more then 99% of people I know . I am more political then anyone in my family and have volunteered for many different organizations including ONE, livestrong and others and sometimes people tend to look at me like I'm wasting my time. That's why I appreciate what bands like Your Vegas do, by signing up with a great organization like Rock The Vote and promoting good causes they show every bit of help counts because one person does make a difference. Because to me regardless of what party you vote for it is important to vote period. So nice to that more YV fans share my passion on this issue and thanks Shannon for starting this conversation! But in case you haven't figured it out I'm totally Baracking the vote I'm very mad at myself btw for now asking Coyle where he got the cool Barack shirt he was wearing at the Vienna show and also forgot to ask if he wore it when they toured the White House and if so, .

My uncle and dad have always been very active when it comes to politics and I guess I have got my interest in politics from. Whenever an election comes around they'll spend hours talking about the canidates and issues. Also, my uncle is friends with that mayor of Seattle, so I got to job shadow the mayor of Seattle in 10th grade, which was really cool. I doubt I'll ever take his job though. I've been excited about voting ever since the 2000 elections, so I am glad I can finally get to vote.
I still remember waiting to hear the results from the 2004 elections and being completely disappointed that George Bush got another year, so finally the time has come to get him out of office.

I hope the reason that not that many people are online right now is because they are getting ready to watch the debate.
I personally think Obama is going to kick McCain's butt. I feel so lame getting so excited about the debates, but with the collapse of WaMu, I think it's more important then ever to know about the issues and get educated. |

I know that is why I wasn't online last night, not because I was partying but because I was at a friend's house watching the debate. I was mesmerized by it and not to alienate any McCain fans on here but I think Obama won hands down. I think the part that struck me the most was his stance on how we left Afghanistan before we defeated the Taliban to go to Iraq and now our troops are spread dangerously thin in Afghanistan because of it. That has been something I have been saying since the war in Iraq began. But from what he said about helping those that need it like cops, teachers, firefighters and the middle class as opposed the CEOs and super wealthy, well that just inspired me. I don't think the answer to fixing the economic chaos was very clear because of the arguing between the candidates but that is to be expected I guess. But as my girl and fellow politically passionate friend Audrey said in a text last night as she listened to it on the radio "GO OBAMA!" I'm truly hopeful for our future and love debates because you truly get to see the candidates for both parties put on the spot and see how they handle the pressure and Obama definitely handled the pressure.

I think Obama won hands down, but maybe I'm just biased. One of my favorite parts of the debate was when Obama forgot John McCain's names and said "Tom, er, John." It's easy to forget a name like John, but not so easy to forget a name like Barack. I can't believe McCain criticized his own party by saying that the republicans wanted to change the government, but the government changed them. If that's the case, why would we elect another republican?!?!?!? I agree that they both didn't really have clear answers to the economic problems, but I don't think anybody does right now or else we would be fixing this problem instead of arguing over a $700 billion bailout in congress. For the sake of this country, I really hope Obama wins. If he doesn't, well, Canada is just a short two hour drive from me. I'm excited now to see the VP debate. I have a feeling Biden is going to rip Palin to pieces, but we'll see. |

I wouldn't get to excited about that one. We had our debate a few days ago...Everyone kicked Steven Harper's ass (Conservative) but right now majority of our citizens are delusional and will probably vote him back in...Sooo if Obama loses you should consider Sweden? |
