this picture inspired me today. I love the light and color, and how beautiful the tree branches frame out the picture. Love it. http://www.flickr.com/photos/banabila/3178920017/ There's a couple things I've got at the top of "I want to be able to do this and do it well" list. Right now I'm trying to learn how to make those great frames around pics that look so good, like the one Lightcatcher used on his first picture of Coyle. I want to learn how to make microphones stands invisible. I'm also wanting to get better at taking "bokeh" pictures. I saw so may pretty ones at Christmastime on flickr. They're so hard with a point and shoot, but possible. I'm also just generally just trying to get as close to DSLR shots as I can with my little point and shoot, experimenting a lot. I'm trying to use the auto setting as little as possible to get better practice. AND I dug out my old 35 mm SLR from long ago... I haven't used it since college. There's a roll of film in it, and the battery even let me take a picture of Ben before it remembered how old and out of juice it is. As soon as I can get out and get batteries, I'm looking forward to using it again. |

These are my favorites from a trip to Hershey this past summer. I love how pictures tell stories. The focus on this one isn't great but I like the lines on his nose. And of course, the bright blue fluff of sugary goodness. I like how it casts a blue glow on his face. ![]() ![]() the blue tongue, I love that I caught the blue tongue by chance. ![]() every year I ride the ferris wheel with my son and my dad, just them (everyone else doesn't like heights) and it's one of my favorite moments of the whole year. that's why I like this picture. I edited the color on this one, turned up the tint and saturation to really make the colors pop. That's the BIGGEST thing that's been at the forefront of my mind as far as pictures go.... not just settling for how the picture turned out, but tweaking it a bit with even just the few simple options available in photo gallery (or whatever you use to store and edit your photos on your computer). It makes such a huge difference. I'm trying to get in that habit so I can make the most of my pictures. ![]() Here's the same pic before I tweaked it. ![]() I like this shot I took at their first mall show at Oxford Valley Mall, just a quiet moment with Mat tuning his guitar. I also like that a waiting and expressionless Mal is in the background. Seems to be sort of symbolizing all the mindless waiting around the poor band has to do at the mall shows! ![]() |

Thanks Julie! I think looking at all the entries to the photo contest made me realize I could be taking much better pictures if I just knew what I was doing! It really inspired me to learn more and get better at it. The contest was a GREAT idea! |

I like photographing people best. These are some of my favorites from this summer. Chantelle and Delaney. I love how this turned out. Shot in B&W obviously and I just turned up the contrast in windows photo gallery. ![]() I took this one of a sweet old couple beside me on the plane on the way back from Bonnaroo. It's one of my favorites. The way she was curled up sleeping on him was so dear. I had to sneak a shot. ![]() Anticipating where you're headed is the best part of flying, but the clouds are a runner-up. ![]() I SOOOOO wish this was in better focus. It's ok for it to be kinda blurry because of the action, but if it was crisp it would be cool. I still love it though!!!!! ![]() ![]() I love this picture of Jack and Bella, my nephew and niece. I like how well and "relaxed" they're posing and looking into the camera. The look on Bella's face is just perfect. So relaxed and natural. I love it! Kids photos are so motivating and fun. ![]() I like this shot of my nephew Jake for the same reason. My nephews Nick (left) and Matt(right) aren't paying attention, but I like how intently Jake is looking at the camera. Maybe I'm just biased 'cause they're my nieces and nephews though. I just love when eyes *really* connect with the camera. I didn't think the shot would feel the same if I cropped it to focus on Jake.![]() My husband took this of his feet with Ben's on the sand at the beach, I thought that was a great idea! I like how the shadows worked out for it.

My husband rarely take pictures of Ben and me. But he took these of his sister and our nephew Simon, and they're such amazing shots as far as TIMING goes. A perfect angle too, because Simon's looking at his mama and his expression are EVERYTHING! ![]() ![]() I like how this shot turned out of Ben's tomboy friend Kate. I like how she looks tomboy and feminine all at once, with her finger on her face like that, looking up at Ben and listening to him talk. Sweet.![]() |

I used my old 35 mm SLR (film) camera for the first time in longer than I even want to admit. It felt real good to get film in it and get going, though I realized once I got my film developed how very rusty I am. But I'm so happy with how this one turned out of my baby, Charlie Bear. I love Charlie soooooooo much. He's our oldest cat and has used up a few of his lives already..... I'm thrilled to have this one as a wall framer for us. God he's such a sweetie pie I could just cry looking at his picture. ![]() I don't like this shot of Pablo as much, his nose is really grainy, but it's not too bad, right? It was the only other decent one on my roll. Look at Pablo's whiskers some of them are wavy.

I need to get over to flickr and check out your latest with your new camera, if you've loaded any. |
