I'm tiring of cable tv, our provider just lost Viacom, not long ago it was whoever provides cnn and etc. before they kissed and made up. So I'm thinking of getting an antenna and just keep internet. If you can leave off the snark, I'm open to suggestions....... |

I know absolutely nothing about these new fangled antenna contraptions I see advertised. I guess if you're near enough to the transmitter towers for your local stations you shouldn't have too much problem with reception. Have you looked into one of the satellite companies? I had DISH TV installed down here and have found it to be excellent. As little as I watch TV I still want it available when I do want to see something. I though about not having cable or satellite installed here, but after spending almost a week with no TV access until the DISH installation day I knew I made the right decision to stay with a good provider. |

I' tired of paying for channels I don't watch, wish there was a choice of channels, not one size fits all. I've been reading about people doing away with cable and wondering about their experience. |

We hooked our internet to the TV and gave cup cable. Don't miss it at all. Our cable bill was 140. Internet is 29. With hulu, netflix , vudu and dozens of other companies you can get anything. Hulu and Netflix cost about 9 bucks each on average. So for about 50 bucks a month, we don't miss cable at all. You can factor in the cost for high speed access but the truth is most of us already have it for their computers. If you have it, why not use it for your TV too? Popular shows like reality shows (we watch CBS's Survivor), walking dead, breaking bad etc. Can be downloaded from the channels website usually an hour after it airs. We also have Amazon prime for shopping and that gives us free access to as many thousands of shows as Netflix. We watch Vikings on it. The PlayStation and the Wii also have their dozens of TV apps. The thing about cable is that it is just TV and expensive. By going internet, your TV viewing is absorbed into costs your already paying for, like your Amazon membership or even Apple TV or your game console. Plus you get everything on cable plus more. |
