What do Malibu residents call themselves? Malibuians, Malibuites, Malibuers?![]() The rich and famous are well-seasoned in dodging the lurking paparazzi in their Malibu haven. But as these pictures prove, they are currently contending with a bigger threat in their exclusive gated community - their multimillion-dollar homes are getting battered by huge waves which are spilling over into their seaside showplaces. The erosion of the beach means the celebrities and billionaires who live along the exclusive beach stretch of Malibu Colony are powerless to protect their guarded houses from the forces of nature. As these photos powerful waves have smashed through glass panels, pulled down fences and destroyed many beach side balconies which are owned by some of the most wealthy and powerful people in the United States. In recent years, winter storms and rising high tides have reduced the size of the famously long and impressive beach and now the high tides threaten to erode the foundations of the homes along the coast - despite millions already having been spent on a sea wall further along the coast and sand bag defenses. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2753877/Celebrities-billionaires-powerless-multimillion-dollar-Malibu-homes-mercilessly-battered-huge-waves-dragging-fences-glass-panels-furniture-sea.html |

she has her own private beach and the house is on a slight hill above it, but she is definitely on the sea side of the PCH. ![]() Edited by webbie to force image to appear Edited by Tybee, Sep 13 2014, 02:01 PM.

From the looks of it I don't think Babs has anything to worry about from the sea unless an epic tsunami happened to the west coast. Edited by Tybee, Sep 13 2014, 02:02 PM.

We did a very rough estimate that her property taxes alone must be about $52,000 per month $31 million invested in good dividend paying stocks would give an after tax income to take of it. With growth,, of course. Edited by Erna, Sep 13 2014, 02:55 PM.

We are assuming it is assessed at 50 million, but we could be way off of course. The last we knew the LA county property tax was 1.25% of assessed value. If assessed at 100 million, then double all the figures |

They had her book in the $9.99 stack at B&N on the construction of her estate so I picked it up. It was fascinating with progress pix and construction notes as well as her decor. She is a perfectionist but damn, she produced a beautiful, innovative, quality project. So much talent, so much bitch. |

The $100 million figure is, I'm sure, the market value, although like anything else it's worth what the highest bidder will pay for it. The appraisal value for taxes (if California does it like most other states) is considerably less. |
