I'm eyeing a cruise from Charleston to Jacksonville stopping at Amelia, Jekyll, Sapelo, Savannah and Hilton Head. A small ship and I've been to Jekyll a couple of times. I'm very excited.

I would love to see these places and explore them after the cruise.

That is all.

You can't cruise down the southern Atlantic coast without going to Cumberland Island. That would be criminal. Here's a set of pics from Cumberland. You do need to plan well in advance though as only so many people are allowed on the island per day. Cumberland is a national treasure. Nothing really like it anywhere else. The little white church is where John Kennedy Jr. was married.

If you do go to that island, please feed the skeletal horse in pic 4. It looks near death. Unfortunately, I think it's too late for the horse in pic 6, it's already dead.

If you think that's skeletal you haven't seen too many undernourished horses. All those horses are completely wild. They roam freely and sleep or nap wherever they want to.

We knew (and very much in the Biblical sense!) this horse-hung southerner many moons ago..........

I see that horse hung southerner apparently has been successful in getting continuance after continuance as his trial hasn't happened yet. The original claims against him were made in 2012 by 2 men. I see 3 more have come forward and joined the suit. He'll settle with them before it goes to court most likely (never admitting guilt), as long as the state of South Carolina permits that in this type of case.

Beautiful pictures of Cumberland Island. What is the abandoned building?

Those are the ruins of Dungeness, the original Carnegie mansion. Back in 1959 a poacher who was mad after being shot in the leg by one of the estate workers came back and set the mansion on fire. The Carnegies, although they still owned it, had not been using it since the depression. The state of Ga. decided to clean up the ruins and leave everything as is. Even the old vehicles and equipment are still on the grounds, although they are succumbing to the elements, as nature provides.

At this link you can see what it looked like before the fire. It's a very eery place to walk, especially if there aren't a lot of people there at the time. The feral horses love to patrol the ruins at all hours.

The big white house with columns is Plum Orchard Mansion, the newer Carnegie residence. It's well maintained inside and out. The other residence is Greyfield which is the only hotel lodging on the island.

If it ever happened in the first place, those rotten greedy queens should have paid Jay for the privilege of enjoying his truly magnificent sizemeat(personally verified by us!)
