http://curbed.com/archives/2014/09/19/in-1955-the-fontainebleau-hotel-was-irrepressibly-glamorous.php I have often wanted to visit this seemingly glam hotel. Has anyone stayed the night? Had a drink by the pool? |

I've driven past it. I think the outside has held up better than the inside. What were they thinking with those fussy, plaster statue lamps? |

Yes, we had a manager's meeting at The Fountainbleau in the 90's. My room was beautiful, but they had to move me the first night due to an ant swarm that came in through the wall in the bathroom.

All the rooms had twin beds because double beds would be considered sinful. |

But the lobby was always full of hookers. |

I've never been in a single large hotel in a major city when the hotel bar(s) weren't packed with hookers, usually high dollar whores. Hell, the bartenders are their pimps in most cases. |

Ive been many times over the years, but since the renovation it is spectacular. I'm one town away and will take a couple of "staycations" a year for weekend getaways during slow season. Great fun, best nightclub, and dining is beyond compare if you're a foodie. |

The pix of the showroom reminds me of what the Tropicana would look like. Baba-Looo |

His name was Rico He wore a diamond He was escorted to his chair, he saw Lola dancing there And when she finished,he called her over But Rico went a bit to far Tony sailed across the bar And then the punches flew and chairs were smashed in two There was blood and a single gun shot But just who shot who? |

Although the original Shining movie was filmed in the beautiful Overlook hotel, it was actually inspired by the Stanley hotel. I'd love to stay there. It's not glamorous, it's not dazzling or over the top. But can you imagine us getting drunk there and then me forcing you to go down the hall to the ice machine? Stanley Hotel I'll even let you take your big wheel.

No, I've never seen any hustlers working the hotel bars. |
