They've upgraded the site quite a bit.

(Not that I'm endorsing it or anything. :spew )

I just went their a few minutes ago for the first time in months and it's all current and mobile friendly. I figured that company that owned it was just going to let it coast until it faded out. Looks like they're re-investing in it.

I just tried the legacy site and it's on lockdown. The new site is not.

Also, how do you access trolldar on the new site? Or have they dispensed with that too?

I think they've eliminated troll dar on the new version.

It looks like visitors can filter out particular posters. But, when I went there today it said I couldn't reply/post because I hadn't been there long enough...that's just fine with me.

(I assume that means I wouldn't be allowed to start a thread...also okay with me. Ha Ha)

That's strange. I've only been there 4 times and I'm able to reply, but not start threads.

I was only there once (today) since last fall. It's just not the right environment for me. I used to like the (secret) soap opera threads, but I gave up watching General Hospital when I went back to college last fall, so I don't have anything to post about anyway. I was surprised to see it was so updated though.

(I hope this board doesn't change. I kinda like the simplicity.)

The collapse of datalounge is complete.

They lost over 90% of their traffic with the new design. It went from 16,000 viewers to 536 in two days after the format changed to that hideous design.

Just look at this...

I noticed that the visit counter for "guests" is done by cookie, not by IP. So if you access the site with multiple devises you may not get to the point you can start threads on all of them at the same time.

That's a huge drop off. It's a pretty nasty site anyway, not that there's any shortage of meanness on the Internet, but they get very cruel over there. Karma is coming back to bite them in the ass.

Also - anyone who criticizes the new site gets banned (including me). So, those numbers are dropping even more.

Amazing, right? All the heinous trolls that have said the most vile things over the last year (that I was on there) get to keep posting over and over... but talking shit about the site? oooo...capital offense.

In their defense, I did e-mail them a questia and shortly there after a banner addressed the concern. Dreamy.

I did a few days ago. I was surprised that they updated. This is the only board I post on...and sometimes even this place is enough to get me flustered and upset! Ha Ha

This is "Julie," yes, the DL Legacy's Beloved "Julie"! Without DL Legacy, I'm going to run out of friends to use. And everybody there knows I use them as fast as I use Kleenex!

What is DL legacy? Is that an archived collection of old DL threads available to paying members?

Their 'readership' is maybe 5% what it was 10 years ago.

As far as I know Legacy was the original site they kept going until readers were 'weaned' off it, and on to the hideous new version.

I went there and every post has like 256 replies. No way. Not even DL in it's heyday would have that many replies to some mundane thread.
