Mexican mayor marries ALLIGATOR believed to be a princess in traditional ceremony in front of hundreds - but not before the reptile is first baptized

On Tuesday, Joel Vazquez Rojas, the mayor of San Pedro Huamelula in Mexico, married an alligator believed to be a princess

The reptile, 3-year-old Maria Isabel, was first baptized before the traditional ceremony, where Mayor Rojas exchanged vows with the animal

Maria Isabel wore traditional white for the wedding, but changed into more colorful attire for the afterparty as she danced with her new husband

The alligator also wore a thick piece of duct tape wrapped multiple times around her snout

The ceremony is performed every year and meant to bring fish, shrimp and seafood to the many fishermen living in the Pacific coast town
