I've got good news guys!

I just got my grade for my spring classes and summer class. "A" in Teaching & Learning and "A-'s" in Teaching Diverse Learners and Exceptionalities (Teaching Students w/ Disabilities.) I've been working my butt off this year, so this is pretty gratifying.

(Believe it or not, this was my 11th year of college!)

Congrats, indeed -- those are excellent grades. After 11 years, you must be anxious to finish -- how many more years before you graduate?

Excellent, OP, but it means nothing unless it can be translated into $$$$ very soon.

I have about two more years in this program (Masters in Teaching), so the total will be 13 years of college.

Once I get settled into a job, I might go on and pursue at Ed.d (Doctorate of Education.) My college is going to begin offering it in a year or so and I should be able to transfer in all my Ph.D. course credits (from the program I had to abandon when I got sick.) That would probably be just an additional two years-so 15 years altogether...but, then I'd be Doctor Octopus :) We'll see, I do want to finish, but I am getting tired of all these papers and homework.

That oughta be covered in my year as a resident/on-the-job training...hopefully.

(My nephew is teaching me to yell better/louder/more forcefully. It's not in my nature to yell, but you gotta be tough to teach high school ELA :boxer )

Not for another year or so (at the earliest.) This fall (a month from now) I will be starting a year-long (unpaid) residency program at my local high school. I'll be co-teaching with a "critic teacher" who will be training/supervising me as I assist and teach right along side her.

In about a month when I'm working 9 hour days (starting at 7:30 in the morning) putting on 6 "shows" a day trying to engage Juniors in Shakespeare and novels, plus having a freshman seminar class, plus advising groups, plus doing correcting/prep all evening...it's going to be pretty real (even if I will be paying them for the priveledge.)

...sometimes I wonder if I'm crazy for pursuing this career...especially with the long and early hours-but, being a teacher really is a "calling."

Yes, that is the rule in Hooker World, where you live, but in this world, there is satisfaction in actually accomplishing something.

Please work on your spelling before you start teaching others.

Awww...spelling's so 20th century. If I get something wrong it's autocorrect's fault.
