If Ivory removed the stain it must not have been a really heavy stain. But I'm glad you found something that worked. |

Ummmm, I hate to ask, but what kind of "stain" are we talking about here. |

It was not stained, just had heavy dirt from being 8 years old with never a bath. We bought it to please someone(who is never mentioned again) which was a terrible mistake in the first place. And we don't even like the sofa, it is soft and you sink into it. We would rather have a classy one like this one:

A permacrust of santorum can't be easy to get out of any sofa. |

That sofa in MPC's picture is classic mid century modern and a design I especially love. I'd give anything to find a tattered old original I could have recovered. We really must get Kiki on the case! I imagine he has nothing else to do between shifts at Burger King.

That looks like a living room Joan Crawford would have had in NYC. |

I thought so. First thing I thought of. Old school glam from the 50s with a Tahitian hint. A hint of mint. Such a lovely time capsule. Go Joan! It's official, I'm OLD, I miss old school glam. William Haines design, Cary Grant, Randolph Scott. We get Kim, Kylie and Kourtney. |

It did not get 100% clean clean so should we do it again, esp the tough spots, and this time add a tiny drop or two of clorox bleach to the Ivory liquid and hot water? Should we rinse it with a damp towel before drying or just dry it after the 'washing'? Discuss! |

Buy a leather cleaner. That will do a better job than the dishwashing liquid. But yes, you definitely should go over the sofa with a damp rag to make sure you've removed all the soap residue and then dry it with a towel rather than letting it air dry. |

Are those portraits above the coach Joan in "tropical" makeup for Torch Song?

In the 1950s our mother's aunt Lucille and her husband Hans lived in the same 5th avenue NYC building as Joan. Aunt Lucille reported viewing Joan's limousine parked in front but never Joan herself. |
