How's everyone doing? I want to post something but I have absolutely no idea what's going on in the world! This student teaching residency is so overwhelming. Everything is just flying by so fast! But, when it gets challenging I just remind myself that two years ago at this time I was still in bed 12 hours a day with CFS AND tapering off Suboxone. It's great (and scary and exciting) to be out there in the world once again.

Thursday is my first observation! Someone from my college is coming in to see how well I interact with the students and perform the light teaching duties that I am easing into. I'm not too nervous about that-things are going pretty good so far.

The worst part (as always) is the college homework, way too much research and writing considering how much work the residency is! But nothing I can do about that...except complain. Ha Ha

There's no reason you should have to live this job every waking hour of the day. Don't obsess over it. Leave yourself plenty of play time. You'll do fine.

Yeah, it's just been a busy week. I ended up going in on Friday to help out with common core pre-testing. Saturday morning I had a town historical society event (I'm a member and in charge of PR) the I volunteered to sell stuff at the concession stand at the varsity football game with the Junior class (the advisor is the head of the English department.)

Then Sunday I worked out, bought more school/work clothes and went with my mother to see Grey Gardens in a new artsy-ish theater we have close by. So busy, busy, busy

I'm having a lot of fun. I need to make sure I take time to exercise, though. Tonight I had to do a webinar for college, so I had to stay home, but tomorrow I'll definitely go to the health club. I will always have to be sure to make health a priority-without good health life just falls to pieces.

It sounds like you're enjoying the job. If you enjoy it then that's awesome. :lol

Yeah, exercise is important and I agree that your health is important.

When you enjoy your work so much that you put in unpaid overtime because you want to, not because you have to, count your blessings.

You can always exercise at home such as by lifting weights or taking a walk.

A friend of mine that's a teacher said the worst part about student teaching was how you are not paid.

Your friend was right! ha ha. So far that's the only downside of student teaching...well that and having to get up at 6:10 am in order to be at work by 7:35. Luckily, my commute is only 6 minutes (5 is the stop light is green.) Can't beat that!
