Pepe has a bright red lesion on his gums in the same spot where we have been spraying a dental freshener for the past 14 months; as per the vet's instructia.

When we brought him last week for his dental checkup and preparatia for teeth cleaning the vet saw it and just said that it had to be rmoved during the cleaning, that it was a papaloma and both vets said that it was benign, common in older dogs, but they always do a biopsy whenever they remove anything.

What should we do? SUppose it is bad, what good would it do? Also, would it be better to just do nothing? He is not complainging, his appetite is still ravenous, he is not in pain, maybe by cutting into it it would make it spread?

Pepe is 13 and not improving in his general quality of life, not at all.

Discuss.

I think you should do exactly what the vets say. Let them remove it, do a biopsy, and then your fears will be over once they confirm it's benign. If you do nothing and it turns out to be cancerous you'd suffer for that decision for a long time. Better to spend a little money and not have to go through that.

Yes. Do what the vet says. Pray for him in addition to medical care.

We are worried that the spray mouth freshener that the vet told us, 16 months ago, to use every night was what caused the problem.
