If you've never been you should do everything in your power to visit at some point in your life. It does take a bit of pre-planning as they only allow a certain number of people on the island per day. It really is like no other place you will ever go.

I know this is an odd comment but it would be fun to be a monkey there to swing from tree to tree. America has so much beauty and incredible places to visit.

The island was narrowly saved from being turned into another Daytona Beach years ago. Developers had bought up about 10% of the island, but the national parks service, the state of Ga., and some of the Carnegie heirs forced them to abandon their plans and the vast majority of the island was turned into a National Sea Shore and can never be developed.
