http://sfist.com/tags/apartmentsadness http://sfist.com/2015/05/01/apartment_sadness_furnished_hovel_w.php I love this site. San Francisco has become a hell hole for renters. Bed bugs are considered an amenity. |

There is only one reason why rents are very high in any area: because it is possible for one to make a lot of money there. Here in the 3rd world, where rents are low, it is very difficult to make more than subsistence money. Edited by Erna, Sep 30 2015, 02:58 PM.

That SF situation is ridiculous! I'm surprised those greedy landlords don't charge the human renters a pet deposit for the bedbugs. I'm sure the SF city council would let them get away with it. This is what comes from too many young people (hipsters mainly) who place much too high a level of value of their self worth on what city, or what section of a city they live in. Everyone has a dream location they'd love to live in, but most people have the sense to know if they can't afford it they live where they can, or if they would have to live like rats in a cage to live there, what's the use? This kind of stupidity in people is on the same level as people who go batshit crazy when they have a well known area code and for some reason their area code changes. It's as if someone has listed their names in the newspaper as moving to a section 8 apartment, and they've gone on welfare.

Nope, rent control. Your neighbor is paying $5,000 a month to subsidize a rent control unit that pays $900 a month for as long as the tenant breathes. |

Rents are 100% correlated with how much money it is possible to make in a given area. Check it out and you will find this is true. |
