I saw the movie bling ring last night directed by Sophia Coppola, it was alright.

I did not feel bad for the kids who robbed celebrities or the celebrities who were so dumb that they left their homes unlocked or left windows open.

Apple pie MizMaxMizanin will enjoy it since it mentions Paris Hilton. :)

I was not surprised that in real life and in this film teenagers or young adults who were rich made the personal choice to rob and steal from people.

I went to college with a few people like this, and one was a professor who would brag that when he was in college he would shoplift/steal stuff, and a students/peers I knew from classes and bars would brag about stealing things as well. These people were rich and did not have to steal but did anyway.

Why did you like it?

I liked the Virgin suicides but I had read the book, which was better than the film.

I saw a Berry springer thing about this. Spoilt rich kids broke into Hollywood celebrities houses yet already had wealth.

This song was in the film, and a car wreck happened.

Rich people who steal do it because of rampant arrogance. Stealing reinforces their privileged attitudes as if to say "I'm better than everyone else and I can do anything I want".

We had a fellow in one of our NYC offices who was from an incredibly wealthy family in Connecticut. A bigger ass of a human you'd never meet. He got the job for no other reason than his father knew my boss in Chicago and asked him to employ him. He pranced around as if he owned the world and what work he did do he screwed up. I was going to terminate him but my boss asked me to work with him to see if we couldn't turn him around so as not to endanger his friendship with the idiot's father. After 2 weeks it was obvious nothing was going to change and it was obvious he had to go. Luckily, the cretin didn't show up for work one day and didn't call. 3 days later one of the staff found out he'd been arrested for shoplifting from Saks (Saks security reported had to chase the fool down the street until they caught him) LOL. He never returned to work, never called or wrote to say what his intentions were, and after 2 weeks I sent him a termination letter. Problem solved.

Great story. Would be fascinating to hear the follow up 20 years later. Where is he now. What he did in the ensuing years.

I'd love to know myself. I wouldn't doubt he's in national politics these days. A Republican senator possibly? :lol

The well off/rich kids I knew in college who stole did so because in some cases they were kelptos or addicted to stealing, or did it because of the reason you said?

The one guy bragged about how he was in the library and needed a book for a class, and it was easily available at the library for free; but he went out and stole a copy of it.

The other guy I knew who had parents who were so wealthy that they actually bought his apartment for him stole because he thought it made him bad ass or he was slumming?

I went to highschool with people who stole things as well. The one guy was majorly into drugs and stole things because he thought he was above the law or everyone else? The other guy was someone I grew up with and he was a kelpto and an Aspie, and has other mental health problems.

Do you think the main male character Marc was gay? He did say how the first house they robbed that the guy was hot and they had met up a few times, he did not try to flirt with or get with any of the attractive girls he was friends with even when he was drunk or coked up, he wanted to release his own line of fragrance/clothing, was into telling women if what they wore looked good or not, and the scene where he got stoned and danced to this song was funny since it looked like he was getting turned off showing off his ass :rofl

"Why did you like it?"

It just had an eerie, deadpan Stanley Kubrick vibe about it.
