Nick Gordon could be charged with murder -- secret grand jury reportedly being convened to bring charges against him

A secret grand jury is being convened to bring possible murder charges against Nick Gordon, Radar Online reports.

In August, Bobbi Kristina Brown's family filed a $40 million wrongful death lawsuit against her former paramour, in which they accused him of assault, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress. (Gordon has denied these allegations.)

Now it appears that the wrongful death charges against Gordon -- he also stands accused of giving Brown a "toxic cocktail" that ultimately contributed to her death -- could be upgraded to murder charges.

Per Radar, the individuals expected to appear before the grand jury include a drug dealer friend of Gordon's, Max Lomas, and Lomas' girlfriend, Danyela Bradley.

Lomas and Bradley, along with Gordon, were present when Brown was found face down in a water-filled bathtub in her Roswell, George, townhouse on Jan. 31, 2014. Lomas reportedly called 911 to seek emergency assistance the night of the accident. The 22-year-old daughter of the late Whitney Houston was placed in a medically induced coma but never regained consciousness. She passed away six months later, on July 26, at an Atlanta hospice facility.

"It's likely the other people in the house the morning she was found unresponsive will be called to testify," says Radar's source. "But it doesn't appear that Nick will be called because the D.A. doesn't want to give away their hand in preparation of a possible trial."

On Sept. 25, the Fulton County Medical Examiner announced that they'd determined the cause of Brown's death, but the results were sealed from the public in a court action, Radar reports.

TMZ previously reported that Brown's death was being investigated as a homicide and that Gordon had been named as a person of interest: "Law enforcement is confident there will be no problem finding a direct link between the two, and they have felt from the beginning there was foul play," claimed a source.

Equally assured of Gordon's guilt is Brown's father, singer Bobby Brown.

"We believe we know who harmed Bobbi Kristina Brown and his name is Nick Gordon," his lawyer, Christopher Brown, said in a statement on Sept. 28.

According to Radar, Gordon and his criminal lawyer, Jose Baez, who famously defended Casey Anthony, are currently awaiting prosecution in Florida.

Gordon has maintained his innocence in the wake of his former love's death.
