What's that; still nagging about the terrible 4-lane traffic jam during your morning commute? Try dealing with Beijing's bottlenecked 50-lane-wide highway to hell…

Tens of thousands of Beijing motorists were stranded for hours on end in an incredible gridlock on Tuesday afternoon at the final day of China's week-long National Day celebration between October 1 and 7 when over half the country's population or about 750 million (!) people travel throughout the country.

The People's Daily Online said that the several miles-long carmageddon on the Beijing-Hong Kong-Macau Expressway was caused due to a very narrow second checkpoint on the other side of the 50-lane wide tollbooth. We wonder who thought of doing that…

You can get an idea of what when on from the comfort of your couch through the aerial footage from Tv.Soku (via Sploid) in the video below. And, oh, next time you're caught in a traffic jam, just bring these images to mind; we promise they will ease the pain…

From the video, it looks like 50 lanes merge into just a half dozen. Am I seeing that right? What a nightmare China must be.
