Raven Symone Won't Hire Some Black People; If they have a stereotypical black name

I guess "Raven Symone" must sound pearly white to her. :eek
Raven-Symone threw a giant rock from inside her glass house, and it's bouncing back in her face -- because her refusal to hire people with "black" names has some people calling for her to be fired.

"The View" co-host admitted on Thursday she discriminates when it comes to people with names like "Watermelondrea" ... and would not hire someone with such a unique name.

Of course, that comment came from a black woman named Raven-Symone ... while she was rocking a hot pink mohawk.

The irony is not lost on 'View' fans, many of whom are blasting Raven on social media and even calling for her to be replaced ... by Rachel Dolezal.

Is she mulata, extremely light skinned with skin lightening products, or what they used to call high yellow?

Her parents both have lighter skin tones. There is probably some caucasian on both sides of the family lineage. They're from Atlanta and I remember seeing them interviewed on local Atlanta TV many years ago when she started becoming well known.

I have to wonder what she was thinking, saying she wouldn't hire someone named "Watermelondrea". That sounds like something that came from the mouth of some toothless redneck bigot.

Her racism comes through sometimes. She talks before she thinks. And when she thinks, she's dumb.

:rofl Even her dad knows this about her.

Raven-Symoné’s father has joined the list of critics taking issue with “The View” co-host’s comments on Africanized names.

In an open letter posted on this Facebook page Friday night, Christopher B. Pearman said he did not agree with his daughter’s comments, adding that she sometimes says “dumb shit.”

“Raven is a really Beautiful, Sweethearted, Human Being. I should know. Her Mother and I Love her Very much and will always support her and have her back. Even if sometimes………. she says some dumb S#%T!” he wrote.

Former child star Symone shocked her fellow co-hosts on Thursday’s episode of the ABC daytime show when she insisted that she would never put anyone on the payroll with a “ghetto” name.

”I’m not about to hire you if your name is Watermelondrea. It’s just not going to happen.”

Symone made the statement during a discussion about a study that found Americans make racist assumptions based on names. The “View” panel then played a YouTube video of kids rattling off “ghetto black names,” including “Fo’Landra” and “Elephantisha.”

After Symone made her comments, she was taken to task on social media — prompting her father, who previously served as her talent manager, to speak out.

“There has been much talk today about my daughters comments on her show’ The View.’ People have been hitting me up all night questioning me about her remarks,” he wrote. “This woman is grown, has her own management team, has her own opinions, right or wrong, and is responsible for her own words and actions.”

“I did my best as her father, mentor and career manager. I believe I did a Wonderful job. Aside from this inexcusable gaffe, her 29 years in the entertainment industry has been quite successful,” he added. “I certainly don’t agree with what she said….but she is damn near thirty years old. She’s a grown ass woman making grown ass mistakes. We all have been guilty of this.”

To My Dear Friends,
There has been much talk today about my daughters comments on her show The View. People have been hitting me up all night questioning me about her remarks. Let me say this……I haven’t managed Ravens career in over 10 years. This woman is grown, has her own management team, has her own opinions, right or wrong, and is responsible for her own words and actions. A woman wrote to me tonight and said she couldn’t support my book because of the words of my daughter. What she fails to realize is that my book is about teaching your child to believe and achieve. Raven has achieved incredible success, and this cannot be denied!
Children grow up and become influenced by many things, situations and people. I certainly don’t agree with what she said….but she is damn near thirty years old. She’s a grown ass woman making grown ass mistakes. We all have been guilty of this.
I did my best as her father, mentor and career manager. I believe I did a Wonderful job. Aside from this inexcusable gaffe, her 29 years in the entertainment industry has been quite successful, for there have been only an Elite Few Child Stars to last this long and have little to no controversy. For this, I am Very Proud!
Raven is a really Beautiful, Sweethearted, Human Being.I should know. Her Mother and I Love her Very much and will always support her and have her back. Even if sometimes……….she says some dumb S#%T!

I think she was just looking for a reason to brag and make herself look far above the everyday black person. She seems the type who is dumb enough to think she's something special because she's on TV. She probably just needed an ego boost and since no one else was giving her one she took matters into her own hands.

Before she was hired for this show she was at best on the E list. The most coverage she's gotten (that I know of) for years before this was her coming out revelation. This show has only raised her up a notch or so, and she still hasn't attained anything higher than the D list. And it doesn't appear she's going to last long on The View so she'd better prepare for a downward career trajectory after this run is over, IMO. Frankly, I can't even see the show lasting much longer. It seems to have worn out its welcome.

Very true.

Raven-Symoné appeared in several successful television series, such as The Cosby Show and Hangin' with Mr. Cooper, in the late 1980s and early 1990s. From 2003 to 2007, she starred in the Disney Channel series, That's So Raven in which she played Raven Baxter, a psychic teenager who tried her best to keep her psychic powers a secret. During her time on That's So Raven, Raven-Symoné released her third studio album, This is My Time (2004) which was her best selling solo album to date, charting at number 51 on the Billboard 200.
