Tybee's advice needed!; We want to make a train trip to another country tomorrow

4 hours one fast train, then 2 hours another fast train, all first class, then nice peaceful hotel for two nights.

We already bought the tickets online but can cancel with 40 euros penalty.

We are worried about Pepe, we cannot leave him with anyone but we fear the trip might be too much for him. He has made the trip many times before but now he is sick. He is still eating and pooping and does not seem to be in pain. The long two day car trip here last week seemed almost too much for him. But he quickly revived once he settled in here. We will have to bring his food and medicatia and his little dog bed with us. Otherwise we have to cancel and wait until Pepe goes to dog heaven which could be ????????? nobody knows. We would have to carry him to the bus, then to the train, then to the hotel, more or less, he can walk some but not a lot. There are certainly excellent veterinarians where we are going should an emergency arise.

Thanks Tybee,

Honestly, I wouldn't do it. Pepe is doing somewhat ok because his life is made relatively easy by you and his physical activity is kept to a minimum. You remember how the car trip to Paris strained him. My personal opinion is that a trip like that would be too much for him. You have to worry as much about the emotional strain as the physical strain. There's a reason doctors always tell family to keep their elderly family members who are nearing their end as comfortable as possible. The emotional strain is just as bad as physical strain for the elderly.

No, I wouldn't do it.

Thanks Tybee, we shall cancel. Just as well because it would be a lot of strain for both of us.
We will make the trip after Pepe has departed. This is tough but it is just the way it is now.

We started him on the anti-inflammatory from the vet. We were unsure since one of the precautias was if the dog has a bleeding problem and Pepe's nose bleeding is being stopped now for the past month by the antibiotics every day.
