The eclipse has started here. I'm going to take a picture every 30 minutes to show the progression of darkness (I'm not going to take a picture of the actual eclipse as I'm concerned it might damage my lens). 1:30 PM ![]() 2:00 PM (no noticeable change on the camera, but I can see a change with my eyes) ![]() 2:30 PM (still no noticeable change to the camera, but it's looking very strange to the naked eye and the temperature has dropped from 96 to 88 in the last 30 minutes.)

If it's going to get to 99.2% it had better hurry up because we're supposed to reach totality at 2:45. |

Anderson Cooper said Trump is going to watch from the White House veranda. Do you think the Donald is smart enough to wear the special glasses? |

Yes my back yard. The strangest thing at this point is that all the birds have gone completely silent. I wish I could remember how fast it happened when we had the big solar eclipse back in 1984, but too many years have passed. Apparently it goes dark rather rapidly . |

You're welcome. Unfortunately the camera just doesn't seem to pick it up at all and frankly this isn't nearly as good as the eclipse in 84. It's like you're looking through a very slightly tinted window. We supposedly reached 99.2% totality 5 minutes ago. Big woop!

Yes, thanks too. Off topic, do you mow that with a rider lawn mower? Poor Baron, on CNN with mom and dad, no glasses, wandering aimlessly around. Honestly, my heart breaks for the kid. His parents have the glasses and they are completely ignoring him. Sad..... Uh, South Carolina...it's getting closer, another pix please!!?,

Google said a picture of the sun with a cell phone would probably be ok so I took this of the sun at 2:50. 7 minutes past totality. I don't know what that little thing is off below the sun, but you can't see it with your eyes. It couldn't be the moon, I don't think. It's already getting brighter now so a new picture would show nothing the first 3 didn't show (which is nothing ). I'm sorry to say but this was a big disappointment.![]() Edited by Tybee, Aug 21 2017, 01:58 PM.

Oh God yes. I'd drop dead trying to mow this property with a push mower. Hell, even the lawn tractor will beat you to death trying to get it all done.

Same disappointment here also. Cloud cover and when over, clouds broke up. Oh, well. Nice for ones that did get to see it. |

My predictia: Trump will say his eyes have been irreparably damaged and he is no longer able to fulfill his duties as POTUS and therefore must resign. You know he's looking for any way he can to quit so it won't look like he's chickening out.

I was just joking. I didn't think anyone could be so stupid. But lo and behold, when you think he can't get anymore stoooopid, he lowers the bar some more. What an idiot child he is. Wonder how long it takes to find out if he had any damage. |

And why is the fool pointing at the sun as if no one else knew where it was? Maybe he was thinking "duhhhhhh, der it is". Or, maybe he was saying to someone else "duhhhhh, is dat it?". I'm just shocked he didn't have his tongue hanging out of his mouth. Mouth breathing cretin that he is.

Just read some bad boy rapper was out to prove himself a bad ass by looking directly at it and now has cancelled all his up coming shows due to a health issue. Thinning the herd. |
