Parents of kindergartners attending a California charter school are frightened after a teacher read her class a book about transgenderism without notifying them. “My daughter came home crying and shaking so afraid she could turn into a boy,” one parent of a kindergartner at Rocklin Academy said. “These parents feel betrayed by the school district that they were not notified,” Karen England of the Capitol Resource Institute said at a school board meeting this week, the local CBS affiliate reports. “The kindergartners came home very confused, about whether or not you can pick your gender, whether or not they really were a boy or a girl.” According to the news report, the book was given to the teacher by a gender-confused child. Parents asserted the same kindergartner “also changed clothes and was revealed as her true gender” during class. Parents expressed betrayal that they were not notified ahead of time that the kindergarten teacher read two books about transgenderism to her students, including I Am Jazz, which were reportedly given to her by the kindergartner who is in the midst of gender transition. The book was co-authored by Jazz Jennings, a teen who was born a boy but was allowed to transition to a girl. “It’s really about the parents being informed and involved and giving us the choice and rights of what’s being introduced to our kids, and at what age,” said parent Chelsea McQuistan. “I’m so proud of my students, it was never my intent to harm any students but to help them through a difficult situation,” said the kindergarten teacher during the meeting, who, according to the report, received support from her colleagues about the need to teach students about diversity. “When we head in the direction of banned books or book lists, or selective literature– that should only be read inside or outside the classroom, I think that’s a very dangerous direction to go,” said seventh-grade teacher Kelly Bryson. In a statement during the board meeting, the district said, “As indicated by Superintendent Robin Stout in a communication last week, staff will be engaging parents and teachers in discussions about how materials outside our curriculum will be addressed in the future.” The board plans to put the item on the agenda for the September meeting. In May of 2015, a similar incident occurred in Kittery Point, Maine, when public school officials apologized to parents of students in kindergarten through third grade for failing to notify them before their children were exposed to I Am Jazz during a lesson on tolerance and acceptance. http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2017/08/24/parents-frightened-kindergartners-crying-shaking-transgender-book-teacher-read/ more@link........this teacher, this childs parents need to be in jail for child abuse. The brainless teacher should have used Stefoknee as an example. I hope she loses her teaching license. Trouble is these brainless teachers just move to another state and teach. |

My how times have changed. I remember being in Kindergarten and they showed us a scary film about fire safety that showed an entire family's house burning up and people dying.I feel bad for that Jazz kid since he could be trans or he could be gay, femme/queenie, and his mom is pressuring him/her to be trans so she can have a daughter. There was some woman who blogged about her kid that people posted about on Datalounge years ago called "Raising my rainbow" where this mom basically wanted her son to be trans and basically ignored her other kids, and had her son get a girl's haircut, dress like a girl, wear girl's clothing, etc. and she would frequently blog about how most gay and bisexual men are queenie, like to dress up like women, imitate women, etc. which is BS. |

The film about fire safety terrified me and other people in our class. Nobody talked about trans people then. |

Yes, the parents should have been notified. BUT, I'm betting the parents who are complaining so strenuously are more than likely complete dramatists who live to build something mild into something YUGE, just so they'll feel justified in railing against someone. Some parents live to find things in their children's schools to get pissed about. If it's not big enough already they'll make it big enough. I'm also betting these are parents who actively keep their kids hidden from anything they simply don't like to hear about rather than sitting them down and explaining it to them. With all the reports in the news lately about children wanting to change genders you'd think a good parent would tell their children about it in case it happened in their school But far too many times parents don't want to raise their own children. They want the schools to do it, and when the schools don't do it the way they want they start having conniption fits. If they don't like the way their kid's school is doing the job, take the kids out and home school them so they'll turn out to be the social retards their parents are. |

Things like this make us so grateful that our parents spent the money to send us to only the finest private Catholic schools! |

That's very true. My parents explained gay men to me when I was a kid but that's because we have friends who have known my parents for decades before I was born who are gay. Yes kids who don't go to school who are home schooled and don't have any other social outlets do become socially awkward. I saw this first hand with people in my highschool who dropped out-one girl dropped out basically in the middle of our Senior year-to be home schooled. |

No, but when we were 17 and attending a private Catholic school we tried to molest a hot young priest there - and he rejected us! Edited by Erna, Aug 25 2017, 10:10 AM.

P12 that's the thing about Tybee's board, he knows the meaning of tolerance and understanding. He goes off on me sometimes for what I post, but he has never asked me not to use Breitbart. I don't know about you but I wouldn't like a Stepford board. |
