I'm not sure why she was/is popular? I have never cooked any of her food or bought her products.

The same goes for that fraud Lidia Bastianich who is not even Italian but is Croatian/Yugoslavian, and she was sued as she told some woman she was going to get paid for helping her but then refused to pay her.

Lidia Matticchio Bastianich is Italian. Her mother is a Matticchio. Lidia was born just over the Italian border in Croatia, a region where the foods were and still are very Italian centered. In fact the region of her birth was once part of Italy before going back to Croatia.

She was on that PBS show "Finding your Roots". She has always claimed that the Yugoslavs changed her family's last name from Matticchio to Motika. Research on the show revealed that this is false. Her original family name is Motika and that it was changed by the family themselves, I guess in hope to get themselves out of Yugoslavia and into Italy. She identifies herself as Italian but DNA taken from her on the show proved that she has 70% Croatian/Slavic blood in her. If this is not proof enough that she isn't really Italian, I don t know what else is.

She simply calls herself an "Italian" because it makes her and her son more money as a famous "Italian" cook than if they are honest and said thatthey are Croatian/Slavic.

Her son is annoying af too, he moved to Northern Italy and thinks he's some famous chef there but most people in Northern Italy, Central Italy, and all of Southern Italy would simply say, "Who?" when asked if they like him.

I know it sounds like I'm being critical but I don't really like any of those celebrity chefs you see on TV. I just make food either by improvising it or following recipes I find online.

Whatever the family last name was or is matters none. Her family was raised Italian, their native tongue is Italian, and the cuisine they grew up cooking & eating was Italian. And I can think of far more disgusting celebrity chefs than Lidia. Compared to that putrid creature Guy Fieri/Ferry Lidia is culinary royalty.

The only TV celebrity chef I sort of like is Gordon Ramsey only because he is brutally honest and does not sugar coat things to restaurant owners, chefs, etc. and it was funny to me to watch him do this in the UK, United States, and other countries. I only watched a few episodes of his original show though.

I never watched Guy Fieri, so I am not sure what he's like? He looks like one of those men that is trying to still look and act like a teenager even though he's almost 50. I remember when some teenager/young adult stole one of his expensive cars and then went crazy and tried to kill people.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/teen-who-stole-guy-fieris-lamborghini-gets-life-in-prison/

On another board I go to someone posted a menu from one of Guy's restaurants that was put online and the food looked really bland, gross, and he serves way too much meat.
