PARIS (Reuters) - French cosmetics giant L‘Oreal sacked its first transgender model to appear on a British advertising campaign after she described all white people as racist on Facebook.

London-based model Munroe Bergdorf had announced on her Facebook page on August 27 that she was to be part of the French cosmetics brand’s new advertising campaign celebrating diversity.

In an online message that later appeared on Friday to have been deleted, Bergdorf said, according to the Daily Mail newspaper: “Honestly I don’t have energy to talk about the racial violence of white people any more. Yes ALL white people.”

L‘Oreal’s UK unit said on its Twitter page it had decided to terminate her contract: “L‘Oreal champions diversity. Comments by Munroe Bergdorf are at odds with our values and so we have decided to end our partnership with her.”

In a post on her page on Friday, Bergdorf criticized the Daily Mail article and sought to defend her comments, which she said were a reaction to the violence of white supremacists in Charlottesville in the United States.

“When I stated that ‘all white people are racist’, I was addressing that fact that western society as a whole, is a SYSTEM rooted in white supremacy - designed to benefit, prioritize and protect white people before anyone of any other race,” she said.

:lol When are people going to realize that it's not good to post stuff like this online especially if you want to keep your job?

I was not sure if this should go in this forum or in the politics forum? Feel free to move it if you believe it would be better suited for there.

The politics forum is for topics dealing with American politics and American politicians. What could this article possibly have to do with that? And trust me, I'm more than qualified to decide what to move to that forum. There's no need for you to constantly make the offer for me to move one of your threads if I choose to.

L'Oreal is an extremely well run and profitable company, we owned some stock in the company and did well with it.

We were astounded that they would have hired such a freak in the first place! :eek

Why L'Oreal wanted a drag queen to sell their products beats me.

I agree. Maybe they were just trying to convey "edgy". Doesn't Caitlyn have a cosmetic deal?

I also think that one should be able express personal views outside a work setting without fear of retribution unless it directly impacks your job performance.

But in this case, her/his job is to expand the customer base not contract it. Hey, white racists need blue eye shadow and blush too.

Maybe they wanted Trans women who are adult/youth to buy their products, and women who are SJWs? :lol
