Guess Harvey wasn't enough, it's let's nail the United States with a couple more. If the cold front takes steam out of Irma, they have Jose as back up.

What a mess. I truly feel for these people, deplorable or not. So many of the religious right are blaming it on the gays. All their fault. God's judgement. I'm really tired of that obsession.

Our friends in Georgia, will this deadly hurricane and weather affect you folks? How are you coping?

The current projection is that it will pretty much hit Savannah. I'm 45 minutes away. I'm waiting to see what the local county officials recommend. I'm not worried about flooding. I'm at the top of a steep enough incline that no matter how much rain we get it would just flow down the hill, and the river is far enough away and at least 70' down a bluff from my property that I'm not worried about river flooding. I have concern about the wind though. Right now it's just wait and see.

The main highway nearest my property is an official hurricane escape route and the traffic has been very heavy with people fleeing north from Florida.

I keep hope that the weather forecasters are, as usual, wrong in their projections.

We have just been placed under a state of emergency. I feel for all the folks who have vacation homes right on the river. If we have a direct hit most of those homes will probable be lost.

It's all a big scam for people to dump their old furniture out onto the street and collect money from taxpayers to get new stuff.

You see, those household items look perfectly usable so this is going to work out quite nicely for them.

If the hurricane is so fake Rush, why not stay-put, asshole?

Rush Limbaugh closed out his popular radio program on Thursday by announcing he would be off the air on Friday and broadcasting next week from ‘parts unknown’ as he and other residents of Palm Beach were ordered to evacuate before Hurricane Irma made landfall in Florida.

That announcement came just two days after Limbaugh delivered a dismissive diatribe in which he downplayed the threat of the then-Category 5 storm, stating that reporting on the natural disaster had become ‘politicized’ and was being used to advance the notion the climate change is real.

There was no offer of an apology or any remorse however for the comments he made on Tuesday. ‘There is a desire to advance this climate change agenda, and hurricanes are one of the fastest and best ways to do it,’ said Limbaugh at that time.

His downplaying of the storm’s threat immediately drew the ire of ‘Today’ meteorologist Al Roker. ‘To have Rush Limbaugh suggest warnings about Irma are fake news or about profit and to ignore them borders on criminal,’ wrote Roker on Twitter.

On the long drives from SF to LA on I5 thru the hideous Cal Central Valley, I used to listen to him on AM radio. He does have a real talent weaving a tale and then his intended conclusion. At the end of the speal, it is seductive and makes "sense".

But of course, after further thought and examining his precepts, it is all bull shit. But his talent is the story he tells. I'll give him that.

He's very smart at pandering to his devotees. He knows exactly what they're all about, what they want to hear (be it truth or not), and what they will believe (no matter how ludicrous). People who listen to and believe every word that fat fool says are people who don't want to know the truth because the truth more often than not goes against their screwed up belief systems. So they're more than willing to be lied to and go along with it, because they are the epitome of "ignorance is bliss".
