Pregnant Woman Refused Service At Restaurant

Because of her attire. I'm generally on the side of the customer, within reason. But I have to say I don't blame the restaurant. This woman is not dressed appropriately to enter a restaurant. If she wants to dress like that at home, no problem. But people trying to enjoy their meals shouldn't have to look at that while they're eating.

What say you?

A pregnant mother has accused a restaurant of not serving her because her belly was showing.

Charisha Gobin, who is expecting twins, told Washington local news station KIRO that on Sunday she wore a black crop top with the word “Weirdo” across the front with a long white skirt to Buzz Inn Steakhouse in Marysville.

Gobin said that after she was seated, a waitress pulled her up and recited the restaurant’s dress code. “The waitress/bartender stopped us and said, ‘I’m sorry, you can’t be here in that shirt’,” she explained. “I said, ‘Are you being serious with me right now?’ And she said, ‘Yep, you can’t be here’.”

The waitress said the restaurant has a “no shoes, no shirt, no service” policy, and that anyone in a crop top — pregnant or not — would have been asked to cover up.

Gobin, who is seven and a half months pregnant with a boy and a girl, noted that she was following the rules and wearing a shirt with sleeves. “I didn’t even have cleavage showing,” she said. She also said she felt body-shamed because her “belly was bigger and sticking out.”

Gobin posted a photo of herself in her “offending” attire outside the restaurant on Facebook. Many people have supported her and slammed the restaurant. “This is awful, I cannot believe they turned you away,” one user commented. “Denying a pregnant woman period is a violation,” another said.

Gobin said she was “livid” and wasn’t going to stick around for an explanation.

In a statement, the restaurant apologized and said it would educate its staff on how not to “overly enforce” the rule, which it said is “intended to make all guests feel comfortable.”

“Our apologies for the misunderstanding. The server in question has been with our company and a great employee for almost 20 years and was trying to use her best judgement [sic] and by no means was trying to be demeaning to the guest again our sincere apology for misunderstanding,” the statement reads.

However, Gobin says the restaurant has lost a customer.

She pulled the skirt down on purpose. The world doesn't want to see her pregnant belly, especially when dining out. She has no respect for herself so how can she respect anyone else and their business.

I realize pregnant women these days are wearing at times very tight attire much unlike what they wore when I was younger. Why would a woman great with child want something tight around their tummy? I saw a pregnant woman in Savannah the other day who had a floor length dress on that was so tight it looked like it she was about to burst out of it.

This is what women wore when I was younger. The pants even had a huge hole cut into the front so the woman's tummy could poke through and not be constricted.

I know I'm old, but this looks classy & very comfortable.

Really? Do I really need to see all that over bacon and eggs? She'll probably breast feed there too after the crumb snatcher is born and scream bloody hell when people complain?

You can't really tell from that broad's picture, but have you ever seen the bare stomach of a woman who is that heavily pregnant? It's like a Grand Canyon of stretch marks. Who'd want to see that while they're trying to enjoy their patty melt! :lol
