The first shots from the set of "Avengers 2" are in, and wow ... is that a bold new direction for the Hulk, or what?

Wait, no. That's not right. (In more ways than one.) The photo above — unretouched, as you'll see below — is from the Arnold Classic Europe, a fitness expo/competition held this past weekend and started by none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger himself. The Governator, as you may know, got his start in bodybuilding, and he's always preached fitness and exercise, even in its most bizarre versions.

So, uh, without being too indiscreet: just what the heck happened here? Well, bodybuilders tend to apply tanning product with a trowel, darkening their skin in an effort to enhance definition of all those muscles that the rest of us probably don't even have. Sure, it looks fairly ridiculous, but we're not going to tell him that.

As you can see in the video below, taken at the festival, the two-tone skin look isn't unique to our unidentified competitor above.

Holy Crap, Batman.

There is something mental about that sport for over 40s. Yeah, I can see 20-35 year olds, full of testostone, pluck and bravado, well, OK.

But his age, it looks down right ridiculous.

On the other hand, that takes a lot of work and effort and endless hours in the gym. Much dedication to an end, I can never figure out.

I agree, it takes a great deal of dedication (especially for the natural bodybuilders who don't roid up). But for the life of me I can find nothing even remotely attractive about that. When your thighs are so thick you can't even walk without giving yourself a rash, it's time to rethink IMO.

I can only assume that most all pro bodybuilders have some degree of muscle dysmorphic syndrome. I had an amateur bodybuilder working for me many years ago. He told me once that these pro guys will tell you they want to become freaks of nature. There is no "big enough" for them and they love people staring at them as they would a freak.
