I found this from perusing the site noted in the "Shaun T coming out" thread. 3 southern gay guys from Charleston expound on southern gay life. And I must say the hot daddy in the middle can come sit by me any time he wants!

That guy irritates me no end. I'll bet he is younger than me, with that "I had to get married, there was no other way" bullshit. There certainly was, and you knew it, but you thought you were better than people like me. Dickheads. I just hate people my age who got married, and living in the South is not a valid excuse. He apparently waited to come out until he buried his parents. You notice they always go for guys who are younger because nobody their own age would put up with that arrogant, blustering bullshit.

Nice to see folks representing Southern gay men! The fellow in the middle is rather handsome, he looks well kept, or maybe he has been kept well. Hmm.. :wag

Us Bible Belt Lesbians are people too, man! Just kidding. :jk

When I don't know what someone's circumstances were growing up I don't really care why they did or didn't do whatever. I've known some guys who literally wouldn't be here today if they'd dared to come out when they were young, while their parents were alive. It would have been so bad for some suicide may have been their only way out of the misery their lives would have become. They did the best they could at the time, and did what they thought (right or wrong) was the best thing to keep from losing their loved ones and possibly their sanity. Not everyone has it as easy as others. So I don't pass any judgement on their choices.

And Lady Campbell, you need to read up on "hillbillies" if you think those 3 fit the bill.

Which sounds very noble of you Tybee, until you realize there were out and proud gay people everywhere, including Charleston, when these people were playing these games and marrying women they didn't love, and like as not were the biggest cheerleaders for the gay bashings that went on. Remember, they all thought of themselves as High Status fellows, Sir Galahad du Battery aka Robert E. FiddledeeLee, and it would be a mistake to believe overmuch in their victim-story today. That blustering personality didn't just arrive with the first Falcon video-pak, and every single one of them believes his reproducing was the greatest thing he ever did in life, something that every rat does. And he may be right.

Yes, there were out and proud gay men in Charleston when that guy was playing it straight. So what? Just because you or I had an easy time of it doesn't mean he would have. Some kids are indoctrinated from the start that homosexuality is a filthy evil habit that will lead them straight to hell & damnation, and if they ever decide to be one they'll no longer have a family. If you raise a child with that ideology how do you expect that child to grow up and one day easily decide "well I guess today I'll tell mom and dad I'm really one of those dirty queers they warned me about all my life". I can certainly see why someone in that predicament would wait until his parents were dead to tell everyone else.

But to assume he was a gay bashing cheerleader all those years just based on what he says in that video, and because it took him so long to come out isn't fair to him. There are times when you simply have to give someone the benefit of the doubt until you are in a position to know for sure what they're all about.

Certainly and if he were sitting here in front of me I'd flutter my lashes and say, "well Bless your heart, you ol Rascal, you." But somebody in our generation was doing all that bashing and not many of them are copping to it today. It's fine if you want to fetishize those big strong arms, but like I say I would reserve my lust until I found out one way or the other. Of course, I'm so old he wouldn't be interested in me anyway. That I can tell just by the video.

Oh don't sell yourself short. He may just be a daddy's boy himself! Or as you say, he could very well turn out to be a big fat fraud as well as a complete asshole. But as I've said before, in my elder years I've learned to operate on the premise that everything people say on the internet is true until I know for a fact it's not. It's just easier that way.
