![]() http://homes.yahoo.com/blogs/spaces/jaw-dropping-chateau-d-marked-down-164003822.html More images at the link Bargain hunters, break out your wallets. The jaw-dropping Chateau d'Or estate at 10425 Revuelta Way in Los Angeles' exclusive Bel Air area, once listed at $40 million, is now offered at almost half the price: a mere $25 million. Click here or on any of the photos to go to a Yahoo! Homes slideshow. Described by the listing agent as "incomparably majestic," by the U.K. Daily Mail (at least in its URL) as "gauche," and by the Curbed real estate blog as "hideous" and "Marie Antoinette by way of the Sultan on Brunei on a Vegas bender," the estate offers about 26,000 square feet of ... indescribable opulence, let's say. The estate actually has four buildings, the listing tells us, including a 20,000-square-foot main residence, a six-bedroom guesthouse and a "professional fitness center." Also gracing the property: fountains (plural), verandas (plural), European-style grottos (yep, plural), and the requisite Southern California swimming pool and spa (just one of each, heaven forfend!). Hard as this is to say, let alone believe, the listing agent is perhaps not entirely hyperbolic in calling this an "outstanding value." The price per square foot works out to less than $1,000 -- compare that with the $11,000-per-square-foot Manhattan two-bedroom we recently wrote about. Even in Bel Air, the square footage is, gulp, generous for the price. |

GaGa filmed one of her vids there. It is right on Sunset even though the addy is "Revolta". And revolta it is. It always makes me giggle to see it. |

If this isn't the epitome of gauche I don't know what is. A bedroom befitting a royal palace, with a big ugly flat screen bolted to the wall. Even I know how to hide my big screen TV from view.

A monsterpiece of vulgarity. What sort of trash would live in something like that? |

It'll probably end up being bought by Chinese, or the Kardashians. |

![]() The way the furniture is lays out in straight lines gives the living room all the friendly "let's sit and chat!" feel of an airport waiting area. |

It reminds me of the way movie theaters used to be. |

I can't fathom anyone ever actually being comfortable living in something like that. The constant worries over keeping it maintained and cleaned would be nerve wracking for me. It's just not a place that anyone other than some foreign potentate could move into and at some point call it a "home". It's really nothing more than a museum of gaudiness. |
