As of right now, it looks like two went off, one was found near the finish line and dismantled, and a fourth bomb was in Newton (according to the NY Times; I don't know where Newton is in relation to Boston). I'm also hearing about a bomb near one of the hotels that were evacuated, but I don't know if that's a separate bomb or the third one that was dismantled. The explosion heard at the nearby Boston Library was a coincidence, just a mechanical failure. Two dead, over 110 injured as of right now (7:30 PM Eastern). The main rumors are: The Saudi man who may or may not have been arrested, and far-right domestic terrorism, either someone from the Tea Party (Boston, Tax Day, Patriot Day) or someone wanting to make it look like it was a Tea Partier. |

No, it is not the 'civilized world's' fault,,,,,it's the fault of the military Intelligence operatives who planted the bombs.

I found that amazing as well. I think many people are still too easy to assume nothing bad could ever happen to them. These days any large public gathering especially in a large city should be highly suspect to everyone in attendance. Hope for the best but always prepare for the worst. The Boston police should really be questioned as to why they would allow an unattended package to sit around like that. |

Authorities may have identified a suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings, CNN reports. Boston Marathon investigation: FBI may have suspect, CNN reports The FBI is holding a press conference at 5:00 p.m. and may announce the news then. CNN attributed the news to an unnamed source. The Boston Globe reported that officials have found an image of "a suspect carrying, and perhaps dropping, a black bag at the second bombing scene." An FBI spokesman declined to comment on the reports to Yahoo News. |

It's classified as terrorism, and therefore a federal/FBI matter. FBI also has field offices all over the U.S. and I'm reasonably sure local FBI agencies often step in to help even if the bomb is a local crime and not an act of terrorism. |

With a bomb strapped to his chest, one of the Boston Marathon suspects was killed early Friday after he and his accomplice brother robbed a 7-Eleven, shot a police officer to death, carjacked an SUV and hurled explosives in an extraordinary firefight with law enforcement, authorities told NBC News. The second suspect — the one in the white hat in photos released by the FBI — was on the loose. Police ordered people in the Boston suburbs to stay inside and businesses not to open, and began a house-to-house search. Boston shut down its buses and subway system for the hunt. The suspects are Chechen brothers with the last name Tsarnaev, law enforcement officials told NBC News. The suspect at large, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, is 19, was born in Kyrgyzstan and has a Massachusetts driver’s license, they said. The dead suspect was identified as Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, born in Russia. Law enforcement officials told NBC News that the brothers entered the United States in 2002 or 2003, and that Tamerlan Tsarnaev became a legal permanent resident in 2007. The chaotic sequence of events started six hours after the FBI triggered a nationwide manhunt by releasing photos of the suspects, believed responsible for detonating two bombs at the marathon finish line Monday, killing three people and injuring 176. Watertown resident Andrew Kitzenberg says he had a "clear line of view" of what he said looked "like a pressure cooker bomb." The suspect at large was described by authorities as light-skinned and with brown, curly hair, and wearing a gray hoodie. “There is a terrorist on the loose,” a law enforcement officer said at a press conference before dawn. Police shut a 4-mile stretch of streets between Cambridge, Mass., and Watertown because they could be littered with unexploded devices, and they began a door-to-door search in Watertown. A convoy of at least 20 vehicles, including military-style humvees and buses, was seen descending on the town. Roughly 380,000 people in the Boston suburbs were sheltering in place. “I just want to speak to the community of Watertown. We need your help now. We are asking everyone to shelter into your place,” Watertown Police Chief Edward Deveau said. “The Watertown community has always stood strong. We need them to do that today.” Harvard University, Boston University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Boston public schools all closed. Emerson University closed and told students to stay where they were. Andrew Kitzenberg, who lives in Watertown, said he saw the two men shooting at six police cars from 70 or 80 yards away. “There was a long exchange of gunfire,” told NBC News in an interview. He said that he saw the suspects use what looked like a pressure-cooker bomb. “I saw them light this bomb. They threw it towards the officers,” he said. “It created a significant decoy, and there was smoke that covered our entire street.” Investigators believe at least one of the two bombs that exploded at the marathon finish line was housed in an ordinary kitchen pressure cooker. Mario Tama / Getty Images Police with guns drawn search for a suspect on April 19, 2013 in Watertown, Mass. Earlier, a Massachusetts Institute of Technology campus police officer was shot and killed late Thursday night at the school's campus in Cambridge. A short time later, police reported exchanging gunfire with alleged carjackers in Watertown, a city near Cambridge. It's not clear whether the shootings are related or whether either are related to the Boston Marathon bombing. President Barack Obama was briefed overnight on the events, a White House official told NBC News. On Thursday, he spoke at a prayer service for the marathon victims and vowed that the people responsible would be caught. Law enforcement officials said the tumult began just before 11 p.m., when the suspects approached a police officer from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and shot him in the head. The two then stole the officer’s cruiser, robbed a nearby 7-Eleven, carjacked a Mercedes SUV and briefly kidnapped the driver, the sources said. The suspects threw explosives out the window during the chase that followed, they said. A Boston transit police officer was shot and wounded, authorities said. The dead suspect — the man in the black hat from the FBI photos — had an improvised explosive device strapped to his chest, law enforcement officials said. Kitzenberg said that the firefight ended when one of the shooters ran toward the Watertown officers and ultimately fell to the ground. Kitzenberg said he could not tell whether the man was tackled or had been shot. The other drove the SUV through a line of police offcers at the end of the street, he said. A bullet from the gunbattle lodged in the wall of Kitzenberg’s apartment, he said. Kitzenberg said that while he had a clear view of the shooters, he could not see their faces. He described them as “average size, average height.” “We heard a loud blast and we didn't know what it was,” said Rebecca Carbone, who stepped out of her home when she heard sirens. “It sounded like a car backfiring.” John Grimes, a retired letter carrier, said that he heard three loud explosions, “and you don’t hear explosions at night a lot.” http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/04/19/17817173-one-boston-marathon-suspect-killed-second-suspect-his-brother-on-loose-after-firefight?lite |

The mother of these 2 crazies was arrested last year for stealing $1600.00 worth of garments from Lord & Taylor. We seem to get a lot of Russians immigrating to this country who end up being thieves and scam artists. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2311653/Mother-Boston-bombing-suspects-arrested-year-stealing-1-600-worth-clothes-Lord--Taylor.html |

This is absolutely true. I was an insurance fraud investigator in Portland for several years. The Russian mob is all over that city. Staged car accidents, car thefts, and burglaries are all the rage for them. But since they weren't brown, it got ignored by law enforcement. It was infuriating. |

They're too pasty and white bread for me. If I wanted that, I'd look in the mirror. I prefer Latin sizemeat. The more swarthy, the better. |

"Pasty"? You mean natural human skin color? Skin color that you want to suggest there's something wrong with? I'll bet you'd throw a PC hissyfit if someone suggested there was something undesirable about black people's skin color. You really are a piece of trash. |

I cannot find it now because I suck at Google, but a few years ago I read an interesting article that suggested the under-the-table dealings necessary to be able to immigrate out of the country means those who already know how to scam a system will be more likely to immigrate. It also said that many are so used to scamming in their own country out of necessity that they don't believe it's not more prevalent here in the U.S. (Of course, a lot of rightwingers claim scamming is rampant, so it's possible immigrants think most Americans already do it, so why can't they?) While I don't know anyone who has immigrated from Russia, I know two people who immigrated TO Russia. Both unpunished criminals, one who does business with the mob in Russia, the other who loves to try to scam people. Rarely has much success but he's a sociopath so he can't stop. |

Note: The pic is NSFW -- it's the full pic of the victim who had his legs blown off. It claims the victim is actually Lt. Nicholas Vogt, someone who was already in the Armed Forces and a double amputee, pretending to be a victim at the marathon. MPC: Lt. Vogt is easily recognizable. He was all over the 'net in articles last year, with a bunch published just six months ago. Check Google for yourself. It makes no sense for the government to use someone so easily identifiable to fake the Marathon bombings. I mean, it doesn't make sense at all, but this "reality check" makes even less sense than usual. |

The surviving Boston Marathon bombings suspect has been released from a civilian hospital and transferred to a federal medical detention center in central Massachusetts. The U.S. Marshals Service said Friday that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev left Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center overnight and was taken to the Federal Medical Center Devens about 40 miles west of Boston. The facility, on the decommissioned Fort Devens U.S. Army base, treats federal prisoners and detainees who require specialized long-term medical or mental health care. The 19-year-old Tsarnaev is recovering from a gunshot wound to the throat and other injuries suffered during his attempted getaway. The Massachusetts college student was charged with setting off the shrapnel-packed pressure-cooker bombs that killed three people and wounded more than 260 at the marathon finish line April 15. http://www.ajc.com/news/ap/top-news/boston-marathon-bombing-suspect-out-of-hospital/nXYXP/ |
