I adore her. What are your thoughts on her shot as our candidate for 2016?

Oh, and if you bring up that tired old freeper Native American thing, I will laugh at you. After everything lobbed at the Clintons and Obamas, that is so tame it will hardly make a ripple. Not to mention, it's old news.

Discuss.

I think Warren has demonstrated that she is what 95% of all the other lowlifes in Congress should aspire to be. She's very smart, a rational thinker, and she does what she thinks is right not what she thinks will gain her the most favor from anyone else. But the best thing about her is that she is not afraid of the bullies in Congress or in the media. She is very adept at putting assholes in their place and with the sweetest smile on her face, unlike jerks like McCain and that putrid closet case Lindsey Graham and so many others who act like petulant 9 year old kids any time they don't get what they want.

As far as 2016 is concerned unless things take a drastic turn for the worse in Hilary Clinton's world I wouldn't think Warren would have a chance at being the candidate, nor do I think she would even try.

I like the Clintons just fine, and even originally supported Hillary in 2008 (which was the catalyst for my first banning and vendetta against DL).

But she's too old and too tied up in controversy. Her time is over.

It's time for new blood, and Warren is it.

Warren doesn't have enough political experience, nor will she be able to work her ideals when up against a Republican congress.

And, I don't think Warren is mean enough to be successful as president. That's a whole different world from where she is today. It's sad to say, but these days nice guys have a much tougher go in that job. I think that's one of Obama's biggest drawbacks. He let his first term go by trying to be nice and work with people who made it obvious from day one they were unwilling. Now, in his 2nd term he's taken a somewhat more in-their-face approach (not nearly enough IMO) and I think he has had less than satisfactory results.

Bill Clinton was as successful in the job as he was because he had 2 very different sides. His public side was/is a very nice, caring southern boy who people felt they could trust to do what was best for people. But his private/work side was as devious as could be. Say what you will about the man's morals, he knew how to work through, over, or around those who refused to cooperate. He (like all of them) had to do some things people weren't happy with and some things that may not have been on the up and up, but on the whole he did more good for America while he was president than most any president during my lifetime, other than JFK.

I see your point, Tybee.

The one President in recent memory who is likely a sincerely kind/gentle person (Carter) is usually hailed as one of the least effective Presidents.

I'm not saying I agree (he did a lot of great things), but that's his legacy.

Absolutely. Carter also has 2 very different sides. Publicly he's loved and admired and has done far more good as a former president than he did as a sitting president. IMO his problem was that he didn't know how to work the system. It's well known that Carter is not the sweet, nice southern gentleman he presents himself as in public. He can be a mean, critical jerk in private. I have a very old friend who worked for the Carter Library for many years and according to him Carter can be quite emotionally abusive to employees. But as president he never seemed to find that middle ground of good vs evil, and those more evil than him took full advantage of that failure.

Very interesting. I assumed it was his absence of an asshole side that led to his ineffectiveness as a leader.

I respect Warren, but Warren and Hillary might cancel each other out if both ran for Pres. Ideally, one should run for Pres and the other for v.p. but that might be too much. Who knows?

Who cares about her Native American controversy from ages ago? She is from Oklahoma for goodness sakes and was basically told something of her ethnic background which was totally plausible but wound up not being true.

Everyone from Oklahoma (which originally was where we stranded the civilized tribes of the Southeast before discovering oil there and taking it back) is told they have Native American ancestry. I'm tall, blond, and blue and look Dutch or Swedish, but allegedly am 1/8th Cherokee (I am also from OK originally).

And wasn't it the University where she taught that actually pushed the heritage stuff so they could claim a higher % of minority professors? It's not as if she instigated it.

Do you think a Clinton/Warren ticket could work? It's a lovely idea!

I could be totally wrong, but I don't see Hilary as a someone who would work well with a female VP.

It is fairly customary to read through posts before responding.

Especially in short threads.

Also, it should be "who's" not "that's," and "supposed," not "suppose."

And "Indian" should be capitalized, though I'm sure you realize they are better known as Native Americans.

Hence,

"Is she the one who is supposed to be Native American?"

Love her. She is single-handedly raising the collective IQ in the Congress. No other member compares. I don't live in MA, but I'll be donating to her reelection campaign in 2018.
