woman who claims she burned paintings her son is accused of stealing might be telling the truth, evidence gathered from her stove suggests.

A Romanian official has said that the ashes contain paint, nails, and canvas, the Associated Press reports, but won't say definitively that they come from the stolen paintings.

The seven missing paintings, which were stolen in October from the Kunsthal museum in Rotterdam, Netherlands include Monet's Waterloo Bridge, London and Charing Cross Bridge, London, Picasso's Tete d'Arlequin, Gauguin's Femme devant une fenĂȘtre ouverte, Matisse's La Liseuse en Blanc et Jaune, and two other paintings by De Haan and Lucian Freud.

The woman, Olga Dogaru, is the mother of the man suspected to be the ringleader of the heist.

People who burn fine art are much worse than people who burn people.
