That makes my continuous loop of Queen, Erasure, and ABBA seem butch. |

I forgot to add something by Erasure. Also, Dusty Springfield. |

BenZ. That is a really, really, really gay playlist and I love it. So gay. Is you want to plop some Queen in there go with "Dreamer's Ball" because it is Sophie Tucker inspired and Queen is gayer than Erasure. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9s1uWL8TOrY&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D9s1uWL8TOrY Dusty's gayest song is "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me" because the subtext is about the closet, right? Poor Dusty, RIP http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QR4vE9xL3yk&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DQR4vE9xL3yk |

Thanks, Liz. I love that one. And I am not generally a fan of Queen (I associate them mainly with "We Are the Champions," "Another One Bites the Dust," and "We Will Rock You," all of which I hate). PP, what are your favorite Erasure songs? Edited by BenZ, Jul 23 2013, 03:22 PM.

My personal Erasure picks: Wonderland: "Oh, L'amour" and "My Heart So Blue" The Circus: "Victom of Love," "Hideaway," and "Sometimes" The Innocents: "Phantom Bride" and "Imagination" Crackers International: "Stop" Wild: The whole album kicks ass and is my favorite, but "Blue Savannah," "You Surround Me," and "Brother and Sister" are the best. Chorus: "Chorus" and "Breath of Life" ABBA-esque: "Take a Chance on Me" I Say I Say I Say: "Take Me Back," "Run to the Sun," and "So the Story Goes" Self Titled: "Rescue Me" and "Long Goodbye" Cowboy: "Rain" and "Save Me Darling" Loveboat: "Freedom" Nightbird: "Here I Go Impossible Again" and "Breathe" I left out "A Little Respect" and "Chains of Love" (their most popular) because they're overplayed and--frankly--not as good as the above songs. I also don't care for their cover album (Other People's Songs) or album of country covers of their own songs (Union Street). And--as much as I fucking love them--their last two studio albums have been pretty lackluster, with nothing even coming close to the catchy synth pop listed above. |

I am an Erasure freak, so sorry about all that. I have to disagree with Liz though. Though Queen by far is the more talented band artistically (and I love Queen), Erasure is much more gay. Plenty of douchey straight guys and frat types claim to love Queen to be cool (usually listing either the songs BenZ listed he hates, the overplayed "Bohemian Rhapsody," or--if they're actually cool--"Under Pressure"). They also play Queen songs at super hetero sporting events. But Erasure definitely seems to be a gay thing. Straights don't seem familiar with it unless they are gay adjacent. Usually "A Little Respect" and "Chains of Love" are the only songs straight people can name. |
