Just another reminder, in case we forget, that we are living in the third world.

We ernestly hope that whoever is responsible for this is quickly executed (the way that Danish air traffic controller was executed a few years ago, for causing the russian plane crash) as a public lesson to all train drivers, otherwise it will never be safe to travel by train in Spain again!

"citizen's justice" works best:

Nothing is safe anymore, it just happened to be Spain this time. I'm more concerned about the truckload of cyanide that was hijacked.

Well then, just don't eat any cyanide, R2!

Look at it this way Lady C. A transportation system is usually the safest after a major accident. They'll do everything in their power to insure this doesn't happen again. That's no guarantee obviously, but they'll try.

Our upstairs neighbor(who speaks no English, btw) just informed us that it was not an AVE(high speed) train but a normal train that happened to be on the AVE's tracks. So then the AVE still has a perfect safety record and we feel better now, though those poor victims will be remembered in our prayers.
