To get SSI, they want to interview my family, friends and neighbors. Isn't this an invasion of my privacies?

OP, the operative word is "may". They may contact these people, but it will only be done in writing. I helped a former work associate through the SS Disability process years ago. I can almost guarantee you with the current workload the Disability adjudicators have now they won't contact nearly as many people as that article leads you to believe. They'll ask you to list certain people (a family member or 2 and a friend or 2) who know about your disability. They'll then send those contacts a form to complete testifying to exactly what they know about your disability and how it affects your ability to work. There won't be any face to face interviews with anyone, and they won't contact anyone you don't authorize them to contact.

I was an insurance investigator for nearly 10 years, OP. I worked for a private company so I'm not sure how the federal government does it, but in order to make a claim you will need to sign a form giving them the right to investigate you. No, you don't have to sign anything, but then they don't have to green light your claim, either.

You have to understand that there is a lot of fraud out there, and it is not unusual or out of line to want to interview people for background information. Is the information delicate? Yes. But anyone with a legitimate claim will have zero to worry about.

The information is kept in the strictest of confidence. I hope that makes you feel better.

Best of luck to you!

We would suggest that OP jump from a 20 story building, but that may harm innocent,self-supporting working people below - so we urge OP to go to the nearest railroad tracks where there are fast moving trains, wait til the train gets very close and then quickly lay down in front of it.

No more depressia!

I'm sure you can think of more cruel and horrific ways in which the OP can die, PeeCee.

For instance: sex with you followed by an agonizing death from the combination of syphilis and super-herpes acquired.

We would love to see what Miss PPP looks like, so we can understand her unhappiness.

I have been up front about the fact that I am average looking. But I am far from hideous, and am quite thin. So there's that. I am happy with the way I look, though I am aware that many gay men forever chase beauty in themselves and potential mates that is unattainable. This lack of ability to deal with their own looks as well as to be realistic about what they can get (demanding a partner be hot without recognizing that they themselves are not) is why many gay men are perpetually alone or unhappy.

Or they are with hotties with sizemeat who constantly abuse them and with whom the threat of divorce constantly looms.

Tell me the part about unhappiness again?
