My sister (younger by 7 years) really likes Fun, and I had only ever heard that overplayed "We Are Young" song. I decided to give them a try. Then I heard this song.

It's fucking "Cecilia," by Simon and Garfunkel! It's so obvious!

I know it's been done for years. Madonna made an entire career out of it. But doesn't it seem like it's happening a lot more often now?

List your favorite examples!

Jessica Sanchez, an American Idol finalist (top two I think) has reworked Tom Petty's Don't Come Around Here No More. It sounds good but is completely different other than the chorus. Hers is called Don't Come Around.

And here's the song Nerf Herder ripped off for the riff in the Buffy theme. Listen at :47 and 1:47.

The most famous example was George Harrison's "My Sweet Lord" which was almost a note-by-note rip-off of the Chiffon's "He's So Fine"

Wow.

That one is just blatant.

Even Beatles are not immune.
