The seven years he was at Hogwarts had gone by far too quickly for Remus. One moment he was happy and secure, and the next he was out in the real world that was already facing the dangers of war. People were scared, far too scared. No one knew who to trust. Dumbledore had created The Order of the Phoenix, and of course all the Marauders had joined, though the group was small and everyone worried if they would be enough. The Ministry was cracking down on laws, and rather suddenly things became rather difficult for Remus - being a werewolf had its downsides. No one wanted to hire a werewolf, for of course they couldn't be trusted. Everyone knew that Voldemort had wrangled in many werewolves to join him, promising them power and countless people to bite. This of course made things difficult for the few 'good' werewolves out there. Of course, there was the Wolfsbane potion that was being researched, but that was far too costly for most of them, including Remus. His father had offered him to come back home, but at that point, his father was getting up there in age and Remus didn't want to be a bother. He didn't want to be a bother to his friends either. Especially to James and Lily, who had just started their life together as a married couple. There was of course Sirius, though...his job at the Ministry had upset Remus. The Department of Magical Creatures...in the Beast Department...in the werewolf division, why would he work there? Remus felt betrayed. Then, quite suddenly, the young werewolf vanished. No one knew where he had gone... |

![]() Sirius was furious. They were sending him away, far away, just because he had been bothering them about werewolf rights. Sure, going into the mountains to investigate a pack of werewolves sounded like a grand old time, but it probably meant death or at least a serious maiming. If he came away from this without becoming a werewolf, it would be a miracle. This was his first job out of Hogwarts, and perhaps he had taken it a little too seriously. Ruffled some feathers a little too roughly. Unfortunately, there was no turning back now. He'd have to go to Romania and do his best. He went to James' house and said goodbye to him and Lily. He wanted them to know where he was at, in case they didn't hear from him in a while. Someone intelligent, someone he could trust, needed to know his location, just in case. He'd have liked to say bye to Remus, but he'd disappeared, much to the dismay of his friends. --- He was standing on the outskirts of a small Romanian village with a path leading into the woods and up the mountain in front of him. Wandering about 100 meters down the path, he stopped and transformed himself into a dog. He was wearing a backpack, so the huge black beast was now wearing a backpack with a wand a few other items of importance. One whiff with his dog nose, and he could smell the wolves. It had been two weeks since the last full moon, but he could still smell them. Swiftly, he ran down the path, following their scent. When he could sense that he was close he slowed down and crept off the path, into the deeper forest. There he transformed back into his human form and pulled out his wand, casting a dissilusionment charm over himself, making him blend in to the forest around him. The further he walked, the more signs he could see that the wolves had been here. Torn trees, disturbed patches of dirt, animal bones. Finally, he ran across a clearing and there were men and a few women standing clustered in a semi-circle. In front of the circle was....no it can't be. Sirius was standing in the Romanian woods, looking at his friend Remus. Before he could stifle it, he let out a small gasp. Edited by literature, Aug 8 2017, 12:47 AM.

![]() Yes, Remus had gone off and joined a pack of werewolves...the very pack Sirius had been sent to investigate. The pack mostly kept to themselves, and very rarely went down to the village. In fact, most of them were rather feral, and spoke only in broken English. Remus had become to unspoken leader of the pack, and if anyone went to the village it was him, and that was only to buy a few supplies now and then. As far as the villagers knew, Remus lived alone in the woods, and had no idea who he was or how he survived the full moon. Many of them had fresh scars, though for the most part they looked no worse for wear. Their conversation come to an abrupt halt though, and Remus put his fingers to his lips. "Shhh.." He turned around, though he sensed something, or someone watching he could see nothing. He turned back to the pack, "It's time to go." He muttered, "Head home." He looked back to the clearing, "Whoever is out there, best be warned that this is not the place for you. Go home and leave us be." He turned and followed the others, keeping a close eye on them. When they got back, he sent three young, though fairly strong 'wolves' back, "Do not harm who or what you find. Put them in the pit...I'll deal with them." They nodded, and ran off into the woods. Where the wolves lived was fairly nice, well nice so to speak. There was a large cave, where many meetings were held, and this cave also had several 'room's where some chose to sleep. They did have cabins though, and it seemed that Remus was trying to keep them as civil as possible. |

![]() Damn. Not wanting to reveal himself right away by stupefying the three men that came after him, he ran back off into the woods trying to be as quiet as he could. Blindly running, he tripped over a tree branch and almost lost his balance. "Oof!" He tried to keep running, but at that point realized he was turned around. He slowed down and tried to get his bearings, breathing heavily. Slowly and quietly, he turned in circles trying to figure out which way the path was. Suddenly, he froze. He could hear someone coming toward him. The sound of a broken branch, the rustle of a leaf, they were very close. He started to back up, hoping to get his back to a tree so they couldn't sneak up behind him. When the man stepped into the clearing where Sirius was, he removed his dissilusionment charm, and raised his wand saying in a fierce growl, "You need to turn around and walk away. Now." As soon as he said that, the two other men came out of the woods, each holding wands, and he was surrounded. Edited by literature, Aug 8 2017, 12:47 AM.

The three men snickered. They all had long, tattered hair and they wore tatted jackets and pant that were caked in mud. One of them had a scary that ran across his face, and he looked to be blind in one eye. They laughed again, "Did you hear that boys?" The largest one said, "We need to turn around and walk away now." They laughed again, and instead of walking away, they each took a step closer. The one with the bad eye tilted his head, "If anyone needs to walk away, it's you wizard", he growled. "We're not too fond of your kind here." He was eyeing Sirius' wand carefully. The wolves of this pack weren't to fond of witches and wizards, despite some of them being from magical families. It seemed that once bitten, many had gone rather feral. Those who had come from magical backgrounds, used their wands only on the rare occasion, and it seemed that Remus was the only one chose to continue to use his - though this was accepted, for many considered him the pack leader. The third one stepped forward, "Put your wand away wizard..." He snarled, "I don't think you'll be needing it." They were now surrounding Sirius, giving the young wizard very little room to escape. They were quick too, and soon, two of them were on top of him, and after a brief scuffle, one had pocketed his wand, while the other two bound his hands behind his back. They then dragged Sirius back through the forest - well, one did the dragging while the other two walked behind, making sure that there was no chance of escape. They dropped him in the 'pit', which was a rather large hole, just outside the pack's living quarters. It was normally where food was kept, but Remus always figured it could be used for purposes like these...though he had always hoped he wouldn't have to use it that way. The three men went to Remus, and the one with Sirius' wand stepped forward. "It was a wizard.." He handed over the wand, "We took his wand." Remus nodded and took the wand, running his fingers over it, "Yes...thank you. You can go.." He sighed, and sank down onto a rock as he stared at the wand. A wand he knew rather well. "Sirius..." he whispered, "What are you doing here" |

![]() Sirius was already very annoyed with this situation. They hadn't taken his backpack, but they had taken his wand. The rest of his backpack was basically just clothes and food, so not much help there. He did have one small pocketknife as well, but from inside a pit that was not going to help him much. While the wolves were dragging him through the woods, he had received several scratches on his arms, legs, and even one on his lower back. Some were bleeding worse than others. His dark green shirt was turning even darker in places with blood. He looked up and tried to see if he could climb out of the pit. It didn't look like he could. Even in his dog form, the walls of the pit were too smooth and high. Remus would know his wand, and would come to him quickly....at least he thought he would. He still wasn't sure why Remus had disappeared after Hogwarts, and part of him thought it was maybe his fault. Sure, he was working in the werewolf division, but he was trying to make life better for werewolves. Sirius had possibly not explained that very well to Remus. Sighing in resignation he sat down in the bottom of the pit, his legs outstretched with his ankles crossing over each other. He sat with his head back against the wall of the pit, looking up, waiting for Remus' face to appear over the edge of the pit. Edited by literature, Aug 8 2017, 12:47 AM.

Remus had gone to his cabin, he needed to think, and to do that he needed to get away. He had already instructed the pack to stay away from The Pit, and that he would handle things when he was ready. The other 'wolves' knew better than to disobey their leader. Even those who didn't completely trusted him stayed away. Though they had hung around the camp fire to discuss what they thought would happen. They had been muttering that because the captured man was a wizard, Remus would probably let him go. "Their kind tends to stick together..." An older one had growled. "I saw we turn him," another young one had added in. There was much grumbling over this comment, and they turned to look at the cabin where Remus was pacing. "What are you doing here Sirius...?" He whispered, "Why have you come?" He turned the wand over in his hands. The pack, of course, would want the wizard to be dealt with appropriately, which could mean a number of things - none of which Remus wanted to do. He rubbed his temples and sank into a chair. Sirius would be safe under his protection, especially on the full moon when he was in dog form. All 'Moony' would have to do is tell the others that the dog was his 'Beta', his second in command and he'd be safe. He knew the others wouldn't like it though. They'd complain that he was letting the enemy in. First things first, he'd have to find out why Sirius was here. |

Sirius was getting restless. He pulled his backpack onto his lap and rummaged through it and found a crumpled pack of cigarettes. He'd been trying to quit, but...well if there was a time to smoke cigarettes it was now. Luckily, he'd been smart enough to pack a box of matches, so he pulled out that box (also crumpled), and lit his cig. The smoke swirled in the air in front of him, lazily drifting up the pit and out into the open air. He took a long drag and leaned his head back against the wall again, thinking about what he should do. He couldn't believe Moony was here, of all places. How could he be here...in Romania...leading a pack of outcast werewolves. There was some talk that they had been terrorizing the nearby town. Even if that wasn't true, the town was definitely scared of the woods and whatever lived there. In the back of his mind he'd always assumed that Moony had left to travel the world, or something equally exciting. How wrong he was. Eventually, after another cigarette, he stood up and stretched. He raised his hands above his tall thin body, stretching it as much as he could and running her fingers through her hair pushing it out of his eyes. At this point he'd been in the pit for over an hour and was sick of waiting. He decided to yell, "OY! Moony!" When he didn't hear an immediate response he yelled again, "HEY! One of you mangy mutts come let me out of here!" Of course, he didn't really think all werewolves were mangy mutts, but he needed to do something to get their attention. Wolves were a prickly bunch, so hopefully this would work. |

That got some attention and the wolves that had been sitting around the fire pit growled. One of them threw a heavy stone in the direction on The Pit, "Keep quiet Wizard!"A few of them rose to their feet and looked ready to pounce, but the door of the cabin opened and Remus walked out. He narrowed his eyes at the others. "Sit. All of you." With some grumbling, they sat, muttering amongst themselves. Remus could feel the daggers they were throwing with their eyes as he made his way to The Pit. He couldn't help but smirk at Sirius' comment. Mangy mutts indeed. He stood at the edge of the hole and looked down at the other man. "Is that what we are Padfoot? I believe it takes one to know one..." He tilted his head, "What brings you here?" Remus could only guess, but he believed he knew the reason why Sirius was here. The rumours that had been circulating had probably reached the Ministry in London. The pack of course hadn't been terrorising the Town...though Remus was certain there were some individuals that had been up to no good, he just didn't know which ones. |

A rock flew into the pit and Sirius dodged it stealthily. He had it in his hand to throw back the way it came when Remus' face appeared over the edge of the pit. His arm fell limp to his side and he dropped the rock. "Ah, Moony. You finally decided to come say hi." He smiled at his old friend, genuinely happy to see his face. "I think you probably know why I'm here, but I am a little confused as to why you are here. I don't think your new friends like me too much." He kicked the rock with his foot and paused for a moment before saying with a cheeky grin on his face, "Hey wait...are you calling me a mangy mutt? Come now Remus, old friend, let me out of this pit so we can talk." Edited by literature, Aug 8 2017, 04:22 AM.
