"Wonderful!" Millgrane cheered. She and Deysy skipped into the camp, holding hands. In the middle of the encampment, Fellsing could hear them announcing to the rest of the community that two travelers would join in their ritual.

"It's just one thing after another," sighed Fellsing. He beckoned his goat to follow the girls into the camp. Several men and women were busily preparing a bonfire in the center of the camp while others sat around with their legs crossed and their eyes closed. The waving man who first sighted them leaped out of the crowd and resumed what he did best - waving his arms around.

"You're here!" he exclaimed. "I'm here! We're all here!"

"Yes..." Fellsing replied wearily. Though he planned to hide his frustration from the campers, he doubted he would succeed. "When does this ceremony begin?"

"It won't be long now!" Deysy answered for the waving man, stepping up beside him. "Sigg and Teiryd are waiting for the signal to start." Fellsing looked around inattentively, wondering which of the busy ants could be Sigg and Teiryd. To his surprise, Deysy pointed at two of the men sitting on the sidelines with closed eyes. He supposed that made sense...

"So what does the ceremony entail?" he asked, keeping his eyes on the meditating or sleeping men - he couldn't discern which.

"The elder of our camp will enter a waking dream by chewing Eyr lenid. Then, after we light the bonfire, we'll call to our father in the deep beyond and ask him to speak to the elder. You'll see soon! Isn't it exciting?" Exciting... Fellsing wasn't sure he agreed with Deysy's fanatic assessment.

enter a wakign dream by chewing that? in order to talk to their father? it didn't make sense, everyone knew the drug caused hallucinations. how could anyone believe some hallucinating persone could be trusted. this whole ritual seemed like a complete hoax from crius his standpoint, and if they hadn't been so outnumbered he would have just decided to leave the ritual for what it was and continue towards Eyr.
"is there any special reason you wish to speak to your father?"

"He's going to give us instructions!" said the waving man. Fellsing probed a little further.

"For what? How to die correctly?"

"Of course not," laughed Deysy. Fellsing could hardly believe she found that amusing. "He'll tell us where to take our camp next."

"Sounds like a load of mumbo jumbo..." Fellsing muttered under his breath.

"What was that?" Deysy asked, crossing her arms behind her back and smiling wide.

"I said it sounds... interesting." Hocus pocus or not, they could learn from the ritual if it had anything to do with the dragons' mission. He brushed his riding goat's thick fur with his hand as he waited for the ritual to start. A few minutes later, the ones called Sigg and Teiryd opened their eyes and rose to address the camp. Even more people emerged from tents, bringing the total population of the encampment to something more like forty members. Fellsing suddenly wished they hadn't gotten involved.

"The nameless one has spoken!" Sigg and Teiryd shouted in unison. This had clearly been rehearsed; he wondered how many times they had consulted the spirits previously. One of the men stepped forward - a true elf beyond all doubt due to his size. His bared chest was tan and finely toned. His nose and pointed ears had been pierced several times, and he wore golden rings in each of the holes.

"What did he say, Sigg?" asked Deysy, practically jumping for joy.

"Begin the ceremony at once! He will share his information with us directly!" Sigg replied, crossing his arms over his broad chest.

"Everyone gather 'round!" called a gray-bearded man sitting near the fire pit. They had arranged a safe circular area around it to prevent any accidents with the bonfire. The elder took his seat within the circle, evidently a bit less concerned for his own safety.

"Come on!" Deysy urged them. She hurried over to the circle and took a seat in the front row. Because of their goats and the large crowd, Fellsing decided to keep his distance. He directed his goat a little closer to the mound of wood and waited. The elder placed his hands over the base of the wood, igniting it with a magic burst of fire. The audience oohed. Fellsing rolled his eyes.

crius stayed close to fellsing to make sure they wouldn't be seperated if something happened. he was still convinced it was most lickely a hoax but somethign about speakign directly to them sounded off. if this was the real deal it would mean they would summon something in some form here, judging by the looks of the bonfire it would most lickely be an elemental. if that happened it would turn out to be really bad.

The elder began chewing thick leaves one at a time as the bonfire took hold. Chatter worked its way around the circle, building from excited whispers into laughter, then finally to a mutual chant. Fellsing focused his attention on the strange syllables produced by the group. It was unlike any elven or human language he'd heard in that it resembled the sound of rocks grinding against one another rather than tones from the throat. He could hardly believe these people had the capacity for such sounds - never mind understanding them.

"What've we gotten ourselves into?" he muttered to Crius.

"Come forth!" the elder shouted. He erupted into trembling laughter that caused him to collapse onto his back. His head rolled dangerously close to the flames, but no one moved to stop him. As he rocked left and right on the ground, the elder joined the mystical chant of grinding noises. It built in volume minute by minute. With a heart-stopping crescendo, the people of the camp all shouted in unison, a coordinated group scream of intense pleasure that caught Fellsing off-guard.

Out of the flames stepped a being covered in white metal. At three yards tall, the visitor towered over everyone present with plenty of room to spare. Its helmet covered the entire head except for two oval-shaped slits which glowed dark blue from within. Beneath the joints of the armor, Fellsing could only see more metal. It stood over the elder - who continued to rock back and forth on the ground - and waited.

The chanting tapered off, and the elder stared wide-eyed up at what they'd called from the flames. Judging by the wide eyes around the circle, the people were surprised by its appearance. The armored one born from the flames spoke in the grinding language. His version of the language was more like steel plates scraping together than stones. The sound of it disturbed Fellsing still more than the chanting campers. To top it off, he didn't understand a word of it.

"Who are you?" the metal man asked in the common tongue, staring right at him and Crius.

"A runt from the Spine," Fellsing said with a scowl. Deysy and Millgrane gaped at him with pale-faced horror. The metal being didn't reply.

crius stared at the metal man trying to find out what it was but even the discriptions of elementals didn't match this creature, the closest thing that matched this in description was a golem but crius had always though golems were stone or clay, not metal.
"who i am is not imortant, what is important is what you are. because i know you are not something that belongs here."

The metallic being remained silent a moment longer before proceeding.

"You do not belong here," he said at last. "This world is artificial. Your names are not required at this time. I will remember you and learn them." Turning his head down to the elder for the first time, the metal man gave his instructions. "First, remove those who are unknown to me from your midst. Second, bring your camp north until the ocean bars your path. I will instruct you again at that time." Sigg and Teiryd stood before Fellsing and Crius with their arms folded, prepared to see them off as soon as the metal being bade them farewell.

"I have found one who interests me deeply," continued the metal man. "He uses many names: King Sorarthur, Your Majesty, Sorai Kelldar, and others. Listen for information that I might learn more." Fellsing wondered if any of this bore relevance to Crius. Either way, they shared a travel trajectory with this camp. A camp of forty people would move slowly compared to two men on goatback, however, so it was possible they could travel to Eyr and back with the tuning funnel and still intercept the camp for more information.

The elder said something in that horrible grinding language, and then the rest began chanting. The metal being stared up at Fellsing for a moment, then at Crius. He stepped backward and disappeared in the flames.

crius turned away and climbed back on the goat. he was satisfied with the ammount he had learned, but not with what he had learned.
"let's go, these fools will only slow us down. unless you want to join them ofcourse, in that case i'll go alone."
without waiting for fellsing crius ordered his goat to start heading towards the north along the river.

"Doesn't seem like I've got a choice," Fellsing muttered, making brief eye contact with the giant elf called Sigg. The man was almost literally twice his size.

"Thank you for participating in the ceremony!" Deysy called with a wave. The waving man joined in, but they were quickly brought into line by the group. They had brought outsiders into the camp without the elder's permission. Fellsing decided it made little difference to him, but they would probably face punishment. He waited until they made it a fair distance from the camp to ask Crius for his thoughts.

"Have you ever heard of such a thing?" Fellsing asked. "That wasn't armor at all, was it? His body was made of metal." The spine elf allowed a sidelong glance back at the camp as the group started packing up tents in preparation for the move. "What a waste of wood... A bonfire just for that? The elder must have been in control of its speech."

crius didn't look back, he kept starrign forward with an intens hate on his face. he didn't really know how he know, or what it meant but he knew he was right.
"he wasn't, at least not in the normal sense of the word. the elders iner magic might have fuelled that thign enough to give it speach but the elder didn't controle it. i've heard of gollems, creaters made from a blood/clay mixture that will do any command it has been given by it's bloodgiver or creator. i've heard of armors animated with huge amount of magic. i've even read about the legendary steelslime that lives in the deepest mines and can imitate any shape it sees. but that thing didn't even come close to any of those. it has a will of it's own although it does what it is commanded; it isn't animated by magic, it is magic and more; and the metal it had as armor? i'm not sure if anyone in sactuarry would be able to make anythign like it. i don't know how but i could feel it's aura, it's dark and i suspect it's only a fragment of the thing they call father. if the tunnel funnel is what it wants then we must secure it fast, if we want to avoid bloodshed, trust me."
